Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I made a song called "Never Leave" with the singer Drea. It was done for the artist collective Paper Cranes for their 4th compilation album. I wrote the music/lyrics for the song, produced the instrumental, acted as the recording engineer, mixed and mastered the song all by myself. I'm very proud of this song because not only did I do the production, but I was able to showcase my skills as a pop writer!! You can check that out here: https://soundcloud.com/papercranecollective/never-leave-ft-drea
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on some original dance tracks and learning more about sound design!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because it has become the industry standard and is the easiest way to ensure professional sounding results.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People seem to think producers just slap sounds together into a song, but the reality is that the mixing and mastering components of making a track are the most challenging and interesting. I get most creative in the mixer.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always always always ask for examples of songs and artists they like to get an idea for what sound best to them.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to our work, not just for quality but also for creativity. If you want to stand out, you need someone who can understand your vision behind the music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Finding creative solutions to your problems. Working with sound come naturally to me and I love finding a way to make audio sound as good as possible.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by artists like Flume and Halsey who push the boundaries of Pop Music. I also am inspired by artists like Daft Punk and Skrillex who aren't afraid to make bold choices with their mixing and mastering.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I have done mastering for all kinds of genres - both electronic and acoustic. I also have made full pop/dance and hip hop instrumentals and vocal mixing for clients.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I have found that Dynamic Equalizing is essential to a clean mix, especially when working with vocal tracks.
