Hollow Sounds Studio

Recording, Mixing, Mastering

Hello, and welcome to Hollow Sounds Studio. We are a recording, mixing and mastering studio located in the heart of the midwest.

At Hollow Sounds, we like to churn out the highest quality tracks we possibly can. Anything from singer/songwriter acoustic tracks, to demos, to full Albums can be recorded, mixed and master in our studio.

Specialties lie in: Indie Rock, Pop Punk, Punk, Alt Rock and Rock.

If you're a full band, we can easily set up and record your tracks. If you're a singer/songwriter, we can record your tracks and add drums, bass, leads, etc.. If you can play all instruments but don't own them, have no fear, all of our equipment from acoustic guitars, electric guitars, amps, basses, and drums are available for you to use at no extra charge!

We use Presonus Studio One Pro 3, along with the full Waves Plugin Suite, Amplitube 3, and EzDrummer 2.

Tell me about your project and how I can help, through the 'Contact' button above.

Interview with Hollow Sounds Studio

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Never say "i'll fix it in the mix". Always capture it perfectly!

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Pop-Punk, Rock, Pop-Rock, Indie and Alt Rock.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: My strongest skill is tracking. Finding the correct mic, and position is one of my favorite things to do when tracking.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I feel I can bring a unique perspective to other songs for a few reasons. Being a musician myself, I have a keen ear for what sounds good. I can help artist see the points in the song that need a little work, maybe if something is a little stale, or boring or if it's perfect, or if a part just doesn't fit. Some people are afraid to tell clients that what they're doing just isn't right. I'd never say it in a disrespectful manor, but constructive criticism goes a long way in a music production.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: My studio has a very relaxed and cozy set up. It is comprised of a control room and a single live room with an airlock between them.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: There are far too many awesome musicians and production professionals out there for me to list!

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: The most common work I do is a split between recording/producing and mastering. I much prefer to be involved throughout the whole process so I have a better understanding of how the band wants the end piece to sound.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: My typical work process would be to get together with the artist or band, and have them run through a few of their songs acoustically with me. As they do this, I like to take notes on suggestions, recording ideas, and constructive criticism. After showing what they have and giving me an idea of the overall feel of the project, i then proceed to tracking. Once everyone is happy with the tracks they have laid down, I then begin mixing. Once the artist(s) are happy with the mix, i hit the final stage for mastering to really bring the song together.
