I am a musician, music producer and recording and mixing engineer. I live in Cordoba, Argentina. I studied Sound at La Metro SRL (School of Audiovisual Communication). I also studied Musical Composition at the UNC, in addition to training with various private teachers and taking specialized courses in production and recording with Mariano Bilinkis, Mario Breuer, Ariel Lavigna, Gabriel Pedernera, among others.
In my years as a live sound operator and as a recording and mixing engineer, I have worked alongside artists such as Lisandro Aristimuño, Raly Barrionuevo, Jorge Fandermole, Juan Quintero, José Luis Aguirre, Duratierra, Triángula, Yusa, Martín Buscaglia, Carlos Aguirre, Toch, Rodrigo Carazo, Lucas Heredia, Así, Zoe Gotusso, Gabi Merlo, Rafa Cocah, Eli Fernández, Rudy, Sole Guerrero, Musha Soul, Navegantes, among many others.

Interview with Sebastián Palacios

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Talk to the engineer and share a lot of music, and above all, trust whoever you commission the job with.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: A computer, a pair of speakers, an Apollo Twin, a SM57, a guitar.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I started 15 years ago, at first I did a lot of live sound and then I started to dedicate myself fully to audio in the studio.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I have a mixed style between acoustic and electric, smooth and powerful. I like to explore textures and effects to generate different moods and states in the song.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: All those who have something to transmit from music.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Don't overload the music.

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: I usually work with Argentine and Latin folklore. Also with rock and pop and some jazz or fusion.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: Connect with the song.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: Character, emotion, moments of growth and decline, dynamics, strength. I try to listen and understand what the song has to give and I go for it.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: I listen to the song and try to feel what it wants to convey. Based on that, I plan a mixing strategy that tries to go down creative and always different paths.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I have a balanced control room, with Adam speakers. I mix in Pro Tools with a wide variety of plugins like Plugin Alliance, UAD, etc. I also have my hardware processes for when the situation calls for it.
