Monty is a phenomenal producer and engineer. His music sounds original and unique - I'd recommend working with him on your next track!

Interview with Monty's Music House

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I remixed a record for a close friend of mine. It's by far my favourite production. Whenever I DJ out I play it and commonly get asked for the track ID. But I keep it as a private unreleased record for me so they can only hear it during my live sets or radio shows.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Currently writing tons of music to release throughout the forthcoming year

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Marksman

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: For me Analog for production as the warmth cannot be replicated on digital gear. But digital plugins are so good now that the difference is so so fine.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I always provide 100% effort and quality to any work I undertake

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: It's something new everyday. No two days are alike

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Why do I need you? Surely I could do it myself? Yes you could definitely do what I offer yourself, but I have vast experience working doing what I offer so I can provide a very high level of quality every time which I have practiced, studied and iterated to get to the standard I am at today.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: One size DOES NOT fit all. Every mix, master or production is done with a clean slate and tailored to the project.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What do you want to achieve with the production? Radio ready? DJing in mixes or at live shows?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: It'll be done when it's done. You can't rush top quality. I will always try and be punctual in completing work and sending back.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Moog Sub 37, 909 Drum Machine, Yamaha MG12XU mixer, Computer with Ableton and Prophet 6

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Graduated in Maths at University/College but always DJ'd and ran events as a student so I continued to be involved in music post studies and I have continued to where I am now.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Moody, Dark and with a strong groove to it

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Skream. His productions are always incredible and he is always evolving as a producer

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Simplicity is key. Evolve elements and get the most out of them

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: House & Techno

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Mixing, Mastering and Producing

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Lots of atmosphere with pads, strings and a big bassline underneath to fill in the frequencies

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I can't leave the studio until I've got my work into a version 1. Always have to finish what I'm working on.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Added lots of hardware equipment in the last couple of years. Absolutely love using it, the Moog Sub 37 being my favourite by far.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: CamelPhat, Franky Wah, Alan Fitzpatrick

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Mixing and Mastering
