Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: Further Up - Static & Ben, Pitbull, and Chesca (Producer, and Songwriter) This was the first time I had a billboard radio number 1. I think I just felt validated after working so hard for so long. I know the accolades don't necessarily reflect the quality of work but I'd be lying if I said it didn't feel great.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Vic Cuccia. Incredible mixing engineer!

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I'm currently working on a few singles for an artist named Mergui. I can't wait for the world to hear these songs!

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Digital. This question to me always feels like asking "Landline or iPhone?" Yeah they can both make calls but one offers far more than the other. 🤷‍♂️

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: You will have a product that's to the very highest standard of the music industry.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Two things. The first is listening to a finished product. It's super satisfying. Second thing is getting to meet inspiring people.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Can you make me sound like "X" artist? Maybe. I can't make you sound like Arianna Grande if you can't sing like her. Honestly though wouldn't you rather sound like you?

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That It's all fun all the time. It's a job and it's tedious like anything else. I will admit that it's far more gratifying than most jobs but most day's it's still a job. With that said I love what I do! 🤘🏼

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: Two things. How can I be of service? Can you send me a Demo? I'm not looking for anything fancy. It can be as simple as a voice note on your phone. I just want to make sure I'm right for the project. If I can't add value there's not really a point in either of us wasting our time.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Hire the right person not the least or most expensive person. Early in my career I made the common mistake of hiring based on accolades no matter the price. Very quickly you realize if the person isn't right for the song it doesn't matter how many Grammys or plaques they have.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Laptop, Interface, Microphone, Midi Keyboard, and Headphones. I can make a full album with that! 🤘🏼

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I started as an artist and by coincidence ended up as a producer. I put out a 5 song EP that got the attention of an indie publisher who introduced me to this other side of the music business. My partner and I officially started our company in 2017 but we were producing a for few years before that.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Post Malone. I think musically we'd be a great fit!

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: MAKE A TEMPLATE! Nothing drains the energy in a session like the producer fidgeting and struggling to find their plugins.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Most of my work is in Pop, Latin Pop, and R&B. However I work with artists in all kinds of genres.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: I like to think i'm a pretty well rounded producer and songwriter. If I had to pick one thing, my vocal production would be up there.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I'd say my forte is melody. Like many of us like to say "no one remembers the words to a song on the first listen but everyone remembers a great melody." I don't care what genre we're working in I want to make sure our melody will be memorable.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: It depends on what needs to get done. If I'm mixing or doing production that doesn't require immediate artist feedback then I'm on my computer working by 9am. If I'm with an artist my sessions usually start around 11am. I like to take the first 45-ish minutes to just talk and see where the artist is at both emotionally and physically. It helps me roughly sketch out the most efficient plan of attack for the day. Especially on long projects like albums.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have multiple studio set ups. My home set up is simple. It's an Apollo, Frontier monitors, a few guitars, midi keyboard, a great tube condenser mic, and most importantly a fully specced out MacBook Pro with all the plugins that I use.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I find myself the most inspired by artists with a vision or helping artists discover who they want to be. Most of us producers have basically the same tools in our arsenal to create music. We all have a DAW, a guitar, a keyboard, etc., but what really sets us apart is our individual ability to bring an artists vision to life. It's the most gratifying part of our job in my opinion.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Most of my work is in Music Production and Songwriting but many projects hire me from start to finish. The only service I don't provide is Mastering but I have amazing relationships with some of the best Mastering engineers.
