Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started performing as an artist in 2005. I've toured my home of Canada countless times as well as performed in Europe and the USA. I started co-writing music for my own artist project in 2009 which lead to co-writing with other artists for their music. I fell in love with the writing room and since then moved to Nashville, TN to pursue songwriting full time. I still release my own music and balance that with writing for others!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Sia, I think she's a brilliant writer and vocalist and it would be interesting to see her process.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Melodies, lyrics & concepts.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As a vocalist, I bring a song up to a level where it can compete with anything else out there. The right vocal can really help sell your demo and take your listener past the first few lines with a solid delivery.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If I'm writing over an existing track I usually sketch out the melodies for each section of the song and then try to figure out what mood it's conveying and choose a concept based on how it makes me feel. If I'm writing lyrics to an existing melody it's a similar process in that I'm listening to the music and melody and uncovering what kind of story it wants to tell. If it doesn't come to me right away I'll give it some time to percolate until a truly great idea comes along. Quality over quantity.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I frequently write with and for projects in the pop, country and EDM world. I also sing demos for other writers/producers as well as sing on songs for sync and commercials.
