Alan "Speedy" Peralta on SoundBetter

Hey! I'm a bassist currently residing in LA after having done my undergrad at Berklee College of Music. As a songwriter or producer, you have a message you want to get out to the world; as a bassist, I want to do my best to support that message and vision! Here to have a good time, and hope to work with you soon!

Hiring me as your bassist, I'll provide you with quick, friendly, and professional service. My aim is to not only produce a great bass line but also to have fun and enjoy whatever music I'm hired to play! After studying bass for over 10 years, I've found the key to a great bass line often lies in the tone and feel, and having developed that, I'm confident I can provide what you're looking for in a bassist. I've worked with artists like Tia Ray, Nana Ouyang, Insaneintherain, Block-B Bastarz, Sophia Lanuza, Sam Robbins, each giving me a new and different perspective of what it means to be serving the music and completing their vision.
As a bassist I love creating lines, but can also aptly read or transcribe if your inclined to writing your own bass lines. I love dialouge and going back and forth and want to make sure you are satisfied with your product. Hope to be working with you soon!

Alan's bass services are professional, quick, and creative. His bass playing enhanced my song's groove and made it electrifying and fun! He is very versatile and skilled in different styles of music and he does an excellent job in executing the perfect tone and feel to support the song. This guy is definitely my go-to bassist for all my future music to come! Highly, highly, recommend!

Interview with Alan "Speedy" Peralta

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: Mcartney's discography with The Beatles being the biggest influence on my musicality, the foundation of my bass playing is melodic and songwriting based. In my more recent years I've studied the music of Pino Palladino and Mononeon to be able to provide the modern pop/hip-hop tone and feel most artists are seeking today.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: I like to find inspiration in something my artist feels close to; ideally a track or another musician, but something to get the creative juices flowing and to get a clear idea of what vibe my artist is going for. Then, I'll develop bass lines through this inspiration before bringing it back to my artist.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: My studio bass is a Marcus Miller Sire V10 with La Bella flats, going through some basic pedals into a Scarlett 2i2. I do most of my bass processing in Logic.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: Mononeon is one of the greatest musicians of our generation in my opinion. Watching an interview with him was very interesting because most professional musicians are very socially apt, whereas Mono, though very insightful, clearly didn't feel comfortable in front of the mic. He is the kind of musician where his music does more of the talking than he does, which is something I value and admire.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Oftentimes, people will come to me with a track partway done, usually with a solid idea of what the harmony, melody, and drums are. Then, they ask me to either write or track a bassline that they have in mind. I send them three different lines with different tone and feel, and they either keep one of those if it fits, or they ask me to adjust one of the lines which then ends up being the final product.
