Credits with BTS, James Blunt and more. Experienced producer signed to Kobalt Music. I'm professional, communicative and affordable. My catalogue has amassed well over 250 million streams so I have a decent track record. Get in touch!

I've written and produced songs for the likes of BTS / James Blunt / Jacob Banks / Sam Tompkins etc (check my discogs).

Every 'job' is unique. However, I tend to work primarily from real instruments (I play piano and guitar so this is often the basis of the production, not always however). I usually begin with this and a great, well treated vocal take. The intricacies usually become apparent once the foundations are laid. Usually a full production starts to take shape within a day or two, and most projects I can have fully wrapped within a week providing my schedule allows it. The nature of this often means it's not too much extra work for me to create an acoustic version of your song too, which in my experience has always been a great option for streaming as it acoustic songs are super playlistable.

Nothing is a problem - there is always a solution. I'm very happy to have a conversation regarding your schedule and can meet deadlines if that is required.

Shoot me a message with what you're after and let's make it work :)

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Martin produced/mixed 3 songs for our upcoming booksical album 'The Songs You've Never Heard' and we are super happy with them. He was great at taking feedback and communicating about how things were going during the process, and we worked back and fwd easily. He is a really talanted pianist and musician and he brought lots of lovey musical touches to the song productions. I really recommend working with him!

Martin did an amazing job on my song ‘make up’, he took my half finished idea and made it feel like the kind of record I love listening to. I’m always excited to work on projects with MLB - he’s a unique talent and also one of the most beautiful souls you will ever meet. Don’t hesitate to bring Martin in on your next project - you won’t be disappointed.

Even after working with Martin for 10+ years I’m still blown away by his musicianship and ‘feel’, he is hands down the best songwriter I know, a naturally gifted producer and the only keys player I’ve ever met that can hear a song once and give me a perfect piano take start to finish. I call him Martin ‘one take’ Brown, you should call him on the phone and get him to produce your next single.

simply put, Martin is a delightful tool to any musical situation! An incredible ear and the biggest heart - one of the best songwriters I know. An absolute gem to write with - so encouraging and easy going, so intuitive with what you or your music will need. He plays piano so delicately, and lifts up ideas to give them what they deserve. Absolutely of my favourite souls and musicians!

Martin has written and produced for me, and toured with me for years. He's one of the best in the game. An astonishing lyricist, incredible pianist and tasteful producer, he has such a great sense of how to bring a song to life. He's a world class musician and easily one of my favourite people too.

I have worked with Martin for years and he’s been a huge part of my journey. Some of my favourite songs I have released were written with him eg Whole, Old Flame, Time again and more! He is such a talented lyricist and his piano playing really helps bring out melodies and creativity in the room. One of my favourite collaborators who I am lucky to still work with and you should work with him too!

His experience as an artist gives him a unique standpoint within the industry and he always works to get the best result for the creative at the heart of any project. HIRE HIM!

Interview with M - L - B

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: James Smith. We've written loads of tunes together and I think he's really growing into himself as an artist and it's been great to facilitate that happening.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Lots of stuff with Sody, Greta Isaac, Victoria Canal, James Smith. I've got a song coming out soon with Lizzy McAlpine.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: My good friend Ängelsson works in the same studio block as me and we work with similar artists.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog where possible. Vinyl is just better. So are tape machines. Gooey loveliness.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll make it vibey!!

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Working with other fun creatives!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: To make it as loud. My answer is that it sometimes helps the dynamics of a song for it to be a slightly quieter mix. Also hire a mixer and mastering engineer if possible!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I'm actually not sure I think most opinions of what a producer is (at least regarding me) are true haha!

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Who are your favourite artists / what type of production do you like?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Send references of songs you love / think are best appropriate for what you'd like from me as a producer :)

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My apollo twin, an SM7, a midi keyboard, a nice guitar and a lovely electric guitar or bass.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I signed a record deal as an artist when I was 22 and fell out of love with the artist stuff (although I'm gonna be releasing music this year again after 4 years). I decided to take a step back and work more as a collaborator on other projects be that with writing or production.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Somewhere inbetween Indie / Lo-fi & Pop.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Labrinth. The man is a genius. 'Jealous' is my favourite song of all time and the Euphoria soundtrack is some of the most boundary pushing music I've heard in a long time. A true creative mind!

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Less is more! Let it breathe.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I would say 50% singer songwriters, 50% absolutely everything else. Singer songwriter world is my safe zone but I love working on wackier productions too. I've done quite a lot of K Pop recently which has been fun.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Piano is my first instrument so anything within the realm of keys - I quite fancy myself on vocoder for that Bon Iver 'Creeks' vibe.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I try to create 'worlds' for songs. All my favourite records make me feel like I'm transported to a place and I try to create that with various tools. I use soundscapes a lot and like re-sampling things I've made.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I'm very client based so whatever the client requires! Most of the time we're good friends of frequent collaborators so it's just a case of building a good working relationship. I am methodical and tend to create my best stuff quite quickly and instinctively.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a lovely room in West London with a separate live room that has a lovely sounding upright piano / plenty of guitars / basses etc.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Bon Iver / Phoebe Bridgers / Ethan Gruska

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I co-write most of my productions but have been doing a lot of outside production over the course of the pandemic.
