Skye Strickler on SoundBetter

Pop-focused songwriter and vocalist - I focus on radio-ready melodies to inspire excitement and thrill. Hear more at skyestrickler.com

Hi! I'd love to work on your project; I'm pretty versatile. I'd say my strength is creating melodies that are radio-ready; mostly anthemic. Check out my first EP "DNA" on all the major players.

My songs Where Did You Go and Dance the Night Away have both won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and Dance the Night Away was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. I'm experienced with writing top-line, singing, hooks, vocal production and direction, musical arrangement, transcription, and creative production/direction. The tracks you hear I wrote, produced, and sang.

I'd be happy to talk about your specific needs and discuss our potential working together. Not everybody is destined for every project, but when it comes to music, I've definitely got an ear for making something with a radio-friendly melody. I also write love songs, ask to hear those.

Ghost-writing considered for higher rate. Inquire if interested. Rates vary depending on project.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Skye was easy to work with, responsive and sensitive to the tone of the project. He helped clarify what we were looking for and was generous with his time. Would certainly work with Skye again.

Interview with Skye Strickler

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I started making music. Professionally for a year.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: Mischievous Pop.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: Max Martin. Google Him.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: If you've got the analytic mindset, fresh ears is imperative.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Pop / EDM / Soundtrack

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Songwriting/Vocals.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Game.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Give me something to work with. I'll give you something back. Usually within a week if not sooner. If you're specifically looking for a fully-fleshed out melody with lyrics and vowel nuances defined, that's a longer process, so not usually ready within a couple days; we can always chat about your time constraints, if any.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I've got some monitors and a full-sized keyboard for listening, but I don't do a lot of the production. I make the music. I can have a guy mix pretty quick and cheap (amazingly talented) if you want those services, but it's not my specialty; I'm the writer. :)

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: Max Martin. Ryan Tedder. Jay-Z's work ethic.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: Song-writing or music arrangement. I also track Hans Zimmer-style theatrical pieces and record piano.
