Alisha's got a lot of passion and a clear vision for her songs. She writes great melodies and has a natural gift for phrasing - I had a lot of fun interpreting her song!

Alisha is wonderful to work with! Very kind, easy to communicate with, and knows exactly what she wants. It was such a pleasure recording vocals for her track :)

Interview with Alisha Portugal

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm working on demoing my songs at the moment. Also I just finished a song for a producer friend of mine who needed it for an independent artist he works with and they loved it by the way.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: That I'll give it my all...

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: It's what I love, and what I've ALWAYS loved. Being able to take thoughts so ugly or painful and turn them into something that heals, Something so beautiful.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: If I can do it, and my answer is yes!

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That it's easy, anyone can do it.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: Ok, what is it that you're really trying to say? What do you want your listeners to feel? What do you want to feel?

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: To not be afraid to say EXACTLY what's on your mind while describing your vision, idea. Music to me is the one place where our ugliest thoughts as humans become something sooo beautiful. So the uglier, realer you get the better your song will be. In order to write a good song write about what you know, to write a great song write about what you don't want others to know and to write an amazing song write about what you don't even want to know about yourself.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: My notepad, a pencil, my phone for my voice recorder& charger would be all I need. I'm a very low maintenance kind of gal.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I've been songwriting since I was 12.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Sexy, raw, colorful, real.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: So many but Beyonce just popped into mind, I'd be fun.

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: Pop

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: My strongest skill is creating a catchy chorus, beautiful and fun melodies, being able to take something so simple, or raw and bring the beauty out of it. Just writing very relatable lyrics.

  27. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  28. A: I'd say colors, an original style, unfiltered emotion.

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: It really depends on the project but usually around a week or two.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: I'm inspired by writers like Mariah Carey, Adele, Kehlani, Tinashe, Mary j blige.

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: I bring a vision, a spark, a memory, an idea to life in the most beautiful way.
