Interview with Profile User 390523

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I started at 14 years old as a game, but it became a strong passion of mine very quickly and at 18 I started my first homestudio, where I made tracks released by labels from all over Europe. It's almost 10 years that I am doing this, and my skills will continuisly improve.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: The best quality and my professionality.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: They have both pros and cons but currently I am for digital because it is more flexible and it has a very good quality.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I love this job in general, but in particular I love the logic that you need to solve the problems.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That a track with a poor arrangement can magically became a high quality song just with mixing and mastering.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: Which kind of sound they are looking for and to send audio files in WAV 24bit under 0dbfs.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My style is something that changed in the time: I started doing Big Room and Melbourne Bounce, then I moved to Techno, then Acid House, Minimal Bounce.....I did several things.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: So many of them.....I think every artist has its own sound and way to work, and everyone has always something to teach and an experience to give.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Something that changed my life during production was the layer technic, in particular on basslines because it allows the track to have a solid and full bass.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: I firstly check the audio, so that I can find if I have some problems in terms of clipping, resonances or phase problems. I secondarely set the levels and panning and then I clean with the eq each channel, to give the right space in the mix to each channel. Then I can give some additive eq and compress and send everything to the relative bus. In mastering I work in base of the mix I have to work with: in case it sounds good I will enhance it with gentle interviews to make it louder but still good sounding, but in case the track I receive doesn't sound too good I will try to recover it with eq and multiband compression.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I mainly do Mixing and Mastering.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: In the mixing phase I bring the song to it's best quality and in the mastering phase I enhance it with little setups and making it as loud as necessary.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: Cubase, Yamaha HS8, Focusrite as audio interface and plugins from Waves, FabFilter, Izotope and many more.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: When I am doing mixing and mastering I am inspired by big sound engineers like Salvatore Addeo, Chris Lord-Alge and Andrew Scheps.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: I am able to work every genre, from EDM to Metal, and I am always happy to receive new genres: I love challenges.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Mixing.

  33. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  34. A: To deliver a good quality track, differently even the best engineer in the world won't be able to make its job at 100%.

  35. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  36. A: Laptop, audio interface, monitors, headphones and the midi keyboard.
