Interview with The-Architect
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both have their charm! But I am a bit biased towards digital since it makes music writing so easy and convenient.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Good Music on time!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being Creative and supporting the same kind of art!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: References and Deadlines.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It's really helpful when a reference is provided along with any other important details the client is looking for.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If essentials to survive are already provided, I would take a Laptop with Logic Pro X, my sound library SSDs, a guitar, a midi controller and lots of inspiration!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started writing music on my computer 10 years ago.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: As a film composer, I like introspective, orchestral and electronic sounds. That being said I love to mix organic elements with electronic ones and experiment!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always have a continuous source sound (Eg. Drone sound, Pad, Violin Legato, Arp Synth, a beat etc.) underneath on top of which you can develop harmony, melody or rhythm. This helps me in getting started with writing quickly.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Whatever the project demands since the story is the main reference.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creativity (finishing a piece of music from scratch to final product) and good taste in music (I listen to a lot of different kinds of music).
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Discussing the details with client on what is required and where it is required (spotting). Then I try to churn out many different musical ideas around that until I have enough from which I can fine tune and pick the final compositions by placing my mind inside the story.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My main computer is a 2018 mac min with 64gb ram along with a MIDI trigger from Arturia (Keylab 49), bunch of guitars and pedals, scarlett interface along with many hi end plugins, I have everything I need to make professional recordings.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Hans Zimmer, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, John Powell, Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds among a bunch of others.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly work as a film composer while also mixing and mastering music. I also have a metal project and a Post Rock project on the side.
