Interested in working with me?

I want to help you create something amazing.

Your project is unique and I will treat your music with the attention and time that it deserves.

My time is limited, so my own interest in the project is important.

Prices are negotiable, so get in touch for a quote.

Two revisions are included. I usually spend 8+ hours on the first revision. This amount of time is required to give your mix the detail it needs.

Discounted rates can be negotiated for EPs and whole albums.

If I have a particular interest in your project, there is the possibility of arranging a lower price on an individual basis.

If you want to learn more about mixing and mastering, I can record an in-depth video tutorial of how I approached your project, explaining every decision along the way. This will cost an extra $150.

Get in touch and tell me more about your project - I can't wait to hear from you.

Send me a note through the contact button above.

Interview with Rob Mayzes

Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
I'm close friends with Martin Merenyi, and could recommend him for any job.
Analog or digital and why?
Digital - in this modern age, more and more mixers are moving to digital for a variety of reasons. Using high-end plugins, I can easily emulate the sound of vintage equipment without the headache and price tag of dealing with analogue gear. Plus, the workflow on digital is much faster, so I can finish mixes in less time.
Can you share one music production tip?
My biggest tip is to focus on the music and the performance above all else - never let the equipment or science of audio production get in the way of your creativity. I have a whole range of tips at (my education website).
What type of music do you usually work on?
I mostly work with rock, pop, jazz, acoustic and EDM.
What's your strongest skill?
Bringing out the emotion and essence of your music, whilst providing a high-fidelity listening experience that translates across all systems.
What do you bring to a song?
I have a creative mixing style, and I am not afraid to use movement and focus to enhance the best elements of your track. I previously worked as a professional musician, so I have a strong foundation in composition and arrangement. I can use these skills to enhance the best parts of your record.
What's your typical work process?
Although it varies on the complexity of the record, I tend to spend a whole day on the first revision. This gives me sufficient time to give your music the care and attention to detail that it needs. After that, unlimited revisions are included - my main priority is that you are 100% satisfied with your record.
Tell us about your studio setup.
I mix 100% 'ITB' (in the box) using a variety of top-of-the-range plugins from Waves, Slate Digital and more. My project studio has been acoustically treated by professionals and I mix on Yamaha HS10's and an Avantone Mixcube.
What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
I'm inspired by a wide range of musicians and mix engineers. Currently, I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from contemporary rock and jazz acts here in the UK, as well as the current flavour of electronic music that is popular on mainstream radio. Regarding mix engineers, I'm influenced by a wide range of styles, from the aggression of Chris Lord-Alge, to the modern sheen of Jaycen Joshua.
Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
I love to work closely with my clients to deliver a mix that matches their vision and dream for the music. Although I am available for mastering, I spend most of my time mixing as this is what I love most. I prefer to be sent tidy stems that have already been editing, so I can focus on sculpting the perfect sound for your record.
