Interview with Elina Ungarova/Queen Of Noise
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: All of my songs are miracles, and I am especially proud of all of them.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Great quality and something unusual, not even saying unexpected.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Everything. Being with music, having an ability to bring something beautiful to this world and inspire someone else, open peoples' eyes.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: 'How do you do this and that?!' - 'No magic, only heart and knowledge :)'
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People say my music is weird because they don't understand it. People forgot how to feel music nowadays with their souls not with ears.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop for sure. Piano. Microphone. That's all I need to create a song.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've started as a songwriter four years ago. Then my music changed to pop when I accidently discovered Garage Band on my computer. I've got inspired by epic music since I was a kid and I always wanted to write something similar, so then I tried myself in doing this, while getting my degree as a music producer and engineer, but I felt that it's not what I want to do. Later on, samples started to appear more and more in my music, and then, at some point it dramatically changed, and that's when SampEL was born.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I work in my own style SampEL, which comes from sampling organic, industrial sounds (like breaking the glass or chopping the onion) and which I modify to then create new instruments, melody lines or beats. Also, I work mostly with noise. SampEL, in my opinion is organic music in its full due.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to try to work with different people and different music styles, because every artist is unique in their own credo.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never follow any rules, and don't listen to anyone, as the true art is freedom. Follow your heart, and try to put not just skills, but a part of you in every note. That's how masterpieces are born.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: SampEL, but I am open-minded
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Create a new reality
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My soul and heart.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Following the inspiration, that comes as a blessing from above.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Music is freedom, therefore it can not have any idols.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My uniqueness is in creating an atmosphere, that absorbs listener completely, putting them in an absolutely different dimension, guiding to the right direction and emotion.
