Cristian Piedrahita on SoundBetter

Most of my life has been spent on tour or in the studio. I am a versatile and experienced Piano/Keyboard player and Music Producer specialized on Latin/Jazz Music. I will provide high quality Keys and the best of my musical soul to your songs. Let's work together!!

Since I was 6 years old, music has been with me in my day to day. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Musical Arts oriented to Orchestral Conducting from the National University of Arts (Argentina) and a Technical Degree in Popular Music from the "Talento Humano" Arts Academy and "El Colectivo" Jazz Institute (Colombia). I have worked as Piano/Keyboard Player, Composer and Music Producer of many records in diverse musical genres and have more than 20 years of experience playing in different stages in America and Europe.

What about the work?
I'll be able to record your song in one or two days! All I need is some instructions (vibe, type of sound/s you are looking for, BPM and sample rate info), then send me two files starting from 00.0 (1. Stereo rough mix of your song without piano/keyboards. 2. Programmed piano/keyboards if you have it.). After I've done the recording I'll send you an mp3 with my piano/keyboards, so you can listen and give me some feedback. If you consider it necessary I will record again until you are happy. After that I'll send you each individual track (L - R).
For Music Production, you can send me the midi/mp3 draft of your song and I'll send you back a draft in mp3 with the general idea of the production. As with the piano/keyboards, I'll record again until we find the best version of the song.

Tell me about your project and how I can help, through the 'Contact' button above.

Interview with Cristian Piedrahita

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: My Nord is the central piece of my setup. Around it are the other instruments that complete the circuit: Piano Action (Yamaha CP88), Organ Action (Nord Stage 3 compact), Synth Action (Dave Smith Sequential Rev2) and couldn't miss a MIDI Controller for programming use (Novation 61SL MkIII). All those devices are running through the core Sound, an Audient iD14, and the core Brain, my Mac Studio M1 Max with the latests version of Logic Pro X . Finally, Yamaha HS monitors and AudioTechnica headphones help me with the listening and other little gadgets and tools complement the whole work in my Studio Setup.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: The most common question in the musician live: "And what do you do for work?"... C'mon... Music is an infinite art, every day you learn new things, and you will never have a roof, you always have to grow your skills and your musical mind. Such an important work to do! And the most gratifying of all is that you enjoy doing it, living with music in your soul. That's what it is all about!

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Meet new people and visit new places.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: Charismatic, patient, focused, casual, elaborated, happy, perfectionist and responsable.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: The last year I recorded Pianos and Keyboards for a great Jazz/Fusion Album of a big friend of mine and a great artist and person, Gastón Puga. Check it out on all the Digital Platforms!

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: I'm producing a new single for the Swedish Latin Project "La Royal Tribu Party", which includes the participation of different world-class artists around the world.

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: Coso Batero, the best drummer I've ever worked with. Without a doubt!

  15. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  16. A: Both, I think we can work with the best of both worlds.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: Nord Stage 3, Mac Studio, a good pair of monitors, UA Apollo X, and a phone for order pizza.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: My first approach to music was with a little recorder flute at 6 years old. A year later, I met the keys, and since then they have been living with me!

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: Don't work too loud! Take care of your ears, they are the most important tool you have!!

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: My main work is in the Latin/Jazz/World Music field, but always makes me happy when I receive projects of another kind of music.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: Eating Pizza ;D

  27. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  28. A: My musical soul and my years of experience sharing with artist and great people around the world.

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: Usually, from the moment I receive the request of work (back-tracks and instructions), I try to listen music suggested by the customer/client, so I can orient my ears before the record process. Then, hands to work! After a couple of hours (of course, depends on the type of work), I send the files with the track/s to the client. A turn-around with her/him for refine details and voilà, another work done!

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: I love the brass arrangements of Tower of Power and Irakere, the groove of Cimafunk and Alaín Pérez, the musical language and virtuosism of Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, and, obviosuly, the greatness and the heritage of the music of the maestros: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Wagner, Mahler, Debussy, Puccini, and the other great exponents of the classical/academic music.

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: Whole productions for Latin and World Music projects, and Piano/Keyboards Sessions for any kind of music, from Pop/Rock to Jazz and Funk/R&B.
