Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, more accessible when on the go.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I work with honesty, if I can't do something, I won't lie, if I can, I will give it my all.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How to optimize their recording process. I say take time to experiment and voice record your ideas, listen back, refine and polish to have a well-rounded performance that will rarely need adjustment, just mixing.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I am a poet at heart. I have been doing this for a while now, 6-8 years.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I discern what the client wants and make notes of important details (references, style, vision). This usually goes down during a zoom call or via email. Then I make sure I have everything I need to begin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: For most of my clients, I do recording, mixing & master (jingles, commercials, beats). For some others, I create custom jingles or beat ideas which later turn into full-length productions.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: "Stories". It was an instrumental LP that was very much based on simplistic weird use of samples to illustrate core emotions in a rustic way with depth. I am proud of it because it is like a project where I really let myself loose.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Currently, working with a client I met here on soundbetter, as well as begun the recording process for a future project
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Creative collaboration and discovering new music, being able to hear it before anyone else hears it.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it is a lucrative & easy business, it can be very difficult as a freelancer & indie artist. It's difficult to put yourself out there without burning out.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How can I help you make your artistic vision a reality?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Know at heart what you're looking for, stick close to your vision, but also allow some creative free flow.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Laptop, Midi Keyboard, Interface, Mic, Headphones
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Eclectic, Cinematic, Lofi, Rebellious, Spiritual.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Bonjr, his instrumentals are fantastic depictions of what I believe is tranquility. I would also love to work with Philanthrope.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Creativity and Technicality are two sides of the same coin.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Currently, cinematic chillstep beats or Lo-Fi Hip Hop beats. With other artists, it is usually hip hop or boom-bap rap.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I have to say maintaining my personal inspiration and knowing what I am good at and what I suck at.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: In production, I typically bring an eclectic sound. Incorporating rustic elements, or natural elements into the song. In songwriting, I experiment with rhymes and melodies and turn these into verses or hooks, or the melodic foundation for the song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Currently, I work with what I have, which is an HP Pavilion laptop, flat response headphones, and VST plugins. Planning to build a full-fledged studio.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I believe chill hop producer Philanthrope, as well as J Dilla & Nujabes, are producers who inspire me the most when it comes to most of my productions. But I also enjoy musicians such as Brian Emo, Hammock, The Cinematic Orchestra, Bonjr played a huge role in my musical development & inspiration.
