Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on two project actually my first was in 2015 at the end of the quarter of 2015 called The Sanctuary available on Bandcamp and reverb nation, it was my Second official mixtape since my release of Broken Barriers in 2011. It came out great it received great promotion and great reviews for christian artist mixtape with no youtube presence or videos, Now I have just released my EP called The Return of Mcfly and its doing well in digital markets on Spotify with sales being sold in France, Denmark, and Singapore and also in the United States as well as on Itunes and Amazon. I.m happy with the continued progress after only releasing 2 weeks ago.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I'm working on my first album soon to release this fall in the 4th quarter of the year it will be avaible on all digital outlets and available in physical copies.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I'm relatively new to SoundBetter so there know I would recommend besides myself
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I rather digital, I just think its the future.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is that my music or feature or writing will always convey a original , authentic message that will be unique, and convey what they were looking for, when they sought me.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I like most about writing and making music, is its my passion, its doesn't take much effort, I enjoy it its my passion, its something that I enjoy and want to do is to inspire and motivate others and share with others.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How do you write like that, or how do you stay inspired. I read a lot, I spend a lot time keeping my myself motivated and myself in a healthy relationship, by eating right, reading daily devotionals, spending time with God, and giving praise to the one who first gave me the Gift to write the way I do.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The misconception about what I do is that I'm unapproachable because my music is faith based so people have a misconception that I am unapproachable or I can't be talk to.them about certain topics. Though my music is inspirational, I do desire to work with people from different ethnic backgrounds, different genres, but I do ask that artist be mindful of some themes that may not be in my best interest.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What body of work are they interested in fulfilling in there music or artwork, in the creative process when writing a song, or do a piece of work for an album or EP
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: To hire someone like me would be a great asset, I have great creativity and writing skills so, it would be in there best interest
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: So lets see I would bring my phone my devotionals my watch my glasses my phone charger my leather bookbag, and pray I can get contact with the coast guard asap
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My original career path was to be a public school teacher, at one point then but I've always been writing music since I was 17 years old, I'm 31 now, I have been on this path for a very long time, I have been on many career paths but I have been a writer for over 10 years, and have never stop writing no matter what , or making song even when it didn't look promising.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is out of the box, its gritty, but yet has fineness, it has nostalgia, its a melting pot of so many different great artist I've listened to over the years, its transcendent, versatile, it very unorthodox, its peculiar, its northern, yet has a faith vibe to it, with a hood element, and then its genius wrapped in divinity
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to one day work with Lecrae, Kanye west and Chance the Rapper these are pioneer in the music genre I am going into because they have broken so many barriers for music for artist like me and would be great to do a feature on a track with them. They have paved the way for many artist who inspire many people it would be an honor.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always come prepared to stay longer then normal, always master your craft, so the session can be fast
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on gospel music, inspirational music, music that is that empowers, and is positive, with a concentration on my beliefs
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is writing, and to be able to convey a positive message of my beliefs in a way that everyone can grasp and not feel violated or overwhelmed by what I conveyed in my music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring inginiuity, originality, authenticity, and longevity, I just bring a cutting edge sound that know has tapped into yet, that is inspiring and crosses cultural boundaries..
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process is relatively not much of a process, I write quiet naturally, from inspiration, when I here a track or a beat that I'm inspired by, it I write on the spot, and finish the song within minutes. If I decide to record within that day I do it, or I practice the new song, until I ready to record it, and finalize it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Right now I work out of multiple in home studios, of trusted business partners my studio setups ranges from dual monitors to high output avalons, to condensor mics, and other high quality studio equipment to give the greatest sound and most profession quality for todays music for the listener.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Artist such as Lecrae, Chance the Rapper, Kanye west's for his production skill set inspires me, but I'm most privy to Lecrae's pen menship as an atist and a leader as well as Chance the rapper as a new coming artist and his influence into the music industry.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I would be privy too is writing I'm a natural song writer, themed in inspiration and productions that demonstrate my talent in a positive of focus
