Hi! I'm Rene, also known as "Locuzzed" in the electronic music scene. I've been producing music since 2008, releasing on various labels from across the world including remix work for Sony BMG and ParlophoneUK/Warner Music Group.
From the very start consistent quality of my recordings has been the main focus, since my own Artist project lives in a production focused genre.

Delivering a mixed & mastered track is the way i usually work - so no need to hire seperate engineers when you work with me.

As a producer i focus on innovative/fresh sounds, great hooks and state of the art quality.
Although i tend towards more electronic sounds you can always hear traditional instruments in my songs aswell to give them a nice mixture of both worlds.

Mixing & Mastering is also a speciality of mine.
With my own Project i've earned the trust from peers of my genre, eventually being hired by them for (ghost)-production and mastering jobs.

Those who have worked with me appreciate my friendly approach & easy to understand communication skills.
I like to make sure we are having the same vision. That way i usually work without the need for revisions, but if your expectations aren't met I'm happy to make adjustments until we got the perfect version of your track.

Tell me about your project and how I can help, through the 'Contact' button above.

Interview with Rene Locuzzed

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: A lot of my Work goes into my Artist Project "Dossa & Locuzzed", which is a Drum & Bass Act focusing on catchy hooks & top quality sounddesign.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: When writing a song for an artist i like to have a raw demo or at least some solid reference tracks so i can get an understanding of the vibe we are going for. In the past i managed to get a good understanding of what my clients are after, especially since i like to have a clear communication from the start on. For Mixing/Mastering Jobs i usually ask for one or two reference tracks so i can get an understanding of the desired sound. Those Jobs are really easy for me and usually done without the need of revisions.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: Disclosure, Noisia, Skrillex

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: Usually i work up Demos to full Tracks. Mixing and Mastering other people's records has also become a regular task for me.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: My most proud work to today has to be "Resonate" by "Dossa & Locuzzed". Together with my partner of the project we have done it all ourselves: written, mixed, mastered and even created the artwork ourselves.

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: Writing another Drum & Bass Album for "Dossa & Locuzzed", various Mix&Master Jobs and always writing loads of different music.

  13. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  14. A: Digital all the way for the comfort of saving you process, re-samping and the endless possibilites thanks to incredible CPU-Powers.

  15. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  16. A: No compromises, i will always deliver the very best that is possible for me and i treat every project like it would be my own. I could never send out a half decent track.

  17. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  18. A: Turning Artists Visions into a real song. The first few sessions where i am close to finishing a new record are the most rewarding.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: What are some tracks you enjoy at the moment? How strict are you with changes of your existing demo? Which elements should stay exactly as you have them already?

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Have clear Vision of what you want to go for and please deliver references of tracks that you enjoy yourself. That way its easier to understand what your desired product should sound like.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Probably a Laptop with all the plugins that i own, my Headphones and a Harddrive full of fresh Sounds.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I've started in 2008, in a bedroom setup working my skills up until i was ready to release on various labels across the world. Back then self-releasing music wasn't a thing so coming up with unique ideas and meeting the current production standards was the only way of getting your music out there. Thanks to this i still got a realistic, honest view on my own work which led to producing a full-lenght Album which i released in November 2019. During this journey i was always in contact with my fellow producers and it was just a matter of time to get offered various "behind the scene" jobs in (ghost)-production, mixing & mastering.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: Catchy Songs with the current Zeitgeist and creative Sound-Design.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Have solid reference tracks and dont overproduce your song for the sake of flexing the production skills.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Bringing raw ideas to life whilst keeping the original Vibe is what its all about for me.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Catchy hooks, intersting sound design and outstanding mix-quality are my specialities. My profound knowledge of whats popular at the moment mixed with my desire to push the boundaries results in an easy but intersting listening experience.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: Pretty much everything runs "inside the box" for me. I've mastered the task of making virtual instruments (Guitar, Rhodes, Drums) sound like their real analog counterparts. For listening i can rely on my Adam A77X monitors and Audeze LCD-2 Headphones. For creative purposes i got a lot of gear from the 80s, including a Juno-106 Synthesizer, the Ensoniq DP/4 processor and Digitech Talker for Talkbox/Vocoder like effects.
