Kory Shore on SoundBetter

Marrying catchy vocal hooks with pristinely edited vocals to make your voice compete with chart-toppers. I help artists achieve record quality performance in session, compose vocal lines that hook the ear, and sculpt their vocal with razor-sharp editing to deliver a professional sound.

The voice is the most important instrument in pop music. I work with the artist in session to achieve a hit quality performance that resonates with their listeners. My job is also to assist in creating tasteful harmonies and vocal hooks that the producer can use to lift the track up to a professional standard.

If vocals are already cut, I offer vocal editing services. Send me the ProTools file and I will comp and edit the vocals with pristine detail to deliver a flawless vocal sound.

Kory can do it all, and do it all at the highest of levels. I’ve cut multiple songs with him and with each track he has brought to life my vision and then some. Being an artist and writer himself, Kory understands how to bring out the very best in an artist and the steps it takes to get them there. He’s got a killer ear for production and knows the ways to enhance a song and take it to that next level. He’s also just such a cool and inspiring person, and working with him has helped me grow a whole lot! Highly highly recommend him :)

Interview with Kory Shore

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: I work in the pop sphere. Anywhere from emo-pop, glitter pop, sensual R&B pop, trap pop, and dance-pop.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: I meet with the artist or producer and get to know them, who they are, and what their goals are. Then I get in a session with them and help pull out a great performance. I want to encourage artists to use the gift that is uniquely THEIRS. I do this by creating an environment where it's okay to sound bad. We have to be okay with sounding bad, so we can take risks and sound GREAT. For vocal editing, and those who want to use my editing services. I go syllable by syllable and meticulously handcraft a performance that is both emotional and pristinely tight. My editing style is nuanced. The vocal is the most important instrument in pop music and it deserves the highest level of attention and care.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Tasteful pop sensibilities. My background is in writing and producing for other artists. I have a big picture approach to vocals because I know how writers and producers think. I'm not just crafting a lead vocal. I'm crafting a record. That involves knowing what harmonies will lift a hook (not distract from it), how to layer vocals, and how to create a unique vibe that suites the artist's voice.

  7. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  8. A: I'm heavily inspired by Jon Bellion, Kanye, Julia Michaels, Post Malone, and Ryan Tedder. I think these artists bring something extremely daring and unique to the table with their craft, in both songwriting and production.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Pop production and songwriting. I work with my clients to make their sound both unique and relatable. I help them find their voice and then help sculpt it to make it shine.
