Working with Ben showed me the potential my music has. His mixing and mastering abilities elevated my tracks to show me the professional quality I should strive for in music-making. Along with his excellent customer service, Ben is a genuinely good person, so you know you and your music will be in the best hands possible. 10/10 would allow him to make my music 1000% better again.

My band worked with Ben a little while ago and it was a super great experience. Not only did he bring quality through his technical knowledge, but helped inspire us to write, record, and perform at our best artistically, as well.

I've worked on a handful of projects with Bengineer and it always is a great experience! I often need a lot of revisions done and he was super patient and understanding as we chipped away until the project was finished. In the studio, he's got a knack for saying the right things to make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend him!

I've worked with Ben on a handful of tracks now, and have been impressed every time. He is professional, easy to work with, has great turnaround time, and his mixes speak for themselves. Communication was great and he was discerning of what the tracks needed, as well as specifically what I wanted from them. Looking forward to working with him again!

I've worked with Ben on a couple of projects in school, and his work impressed me enough to incite a collaboration with him after my schooling was up. He saw the entirety of our project through start to finish, from writing the initial beat of the song, to recording. The mix and master was done by himself, and I was extremely impressed with the outcome. Our song - Getaway by Soulace is up on multiple music distributors - Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play to name a few - and I could not be happier with the result. Everything sounded professional, and working with Ben was a great experience!

    Legend.

Interview with BPdC Productions

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One project that I am extremely proud of was for a folk duo. They were a new band that didn't really know what they wanted sonically. As their producer, we played around with many ideas to find what they wanted so they can form their "sound" as a band. After many trippy and weird ideas, they were so happy of the final product, their faces lit up like a kid who just entered a candy shop. That made me truly appreciate my role as a producer.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently mastering a record for a client in the USA on the other side of the coast!

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both! When it comes to recording, having a console and outboard gear is super fun to work with. With the availability of digital, it allows me to understand analog. I'd play around with an analog emulated plugin and it helps me understand how the real thing works so when I record in a studio, I'll have an understanding of how the analog compressors, eqs, etc work.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I'm here to make sure you're happy. We're here to serve the song and we'll do what we need to make it the best.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Connecting with people. I love meeting and collaborating on projects and adding my twist to their creation. Most of the clients I worked with usually ends up staying in touch

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: "When can you get it done?" Every project is different so it will vary. Typically, I can get the first pass done in 3-5 days, but if we add revisions in there, many factors can contribute like time to communicate and scheduling can very the finish time.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: "I only do music." I also work in film and game audio.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: My Macbook Pro, a Zoom recorder, my audio technica m50x, a guitar.... and a coffee machine.. can't forget that.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Oh Wonder. My sound was heavily influenced by them when I first started doing audio. It's where I grew to love indie pop and electronica.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Communication. Anyone can learn and train their ear to work in audio. But being able to communicate with clients and understand what they're looking for and compromise a solution if needed is something I am very strong at and many of my clients say this. It's important to know when a song calls for a different direction and being able to communicate that AND find an alternate solution where both parties are happy is very important.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: I always prep my sessions before hand. I believe it is super important to open up a project and know whats going on and where everything is. Ill make sure I have a rough mix from the client so we have an idea what they were listening to. From there I'll start getting creative!

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: I like to keep things simple. I work in the box when it comes to mixing and mastering. I absolutely looooove manipulating audio so working ITB lets me do this more efficiently and with the tools we have today, I have more options to play around and mess with the signal.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: I get a lot of inspiration from local and upcoming professionals around me. Something about discovering and meeting these people lets me connect with my work on a more personal level.

  27. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  28. A: I have been working in all aspects of audio for various years. Graduating audio school with a diploma in Post & Game audio production followed by a post-diploma in audio engineering. I then interned under producer and mix engineer, Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Said the Whale, The Treble), this is where I learned a big chunk of my mixing techniques. I have also worked on audio post production on short films and video games.

  29. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  30. A: The chemistry between the client and the professional is very important. You don't want to work with someone that you cant get along with.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Thinking of destroying a sound instead of cleaning it up changes your perspective and inspiration on a song.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: I work on a lot of pop, rnb and electronic music with the occasional folk and singer-songwriter project to change the pace up from time to time.

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: I primarily do mixing and mastering for various clients across Canada and the United States. I also produce music for artists and work on audio post production for film and games.
