I am a music producer, multi-instrumentalist and recording/mix/mastering engineer from the UK: A band member, writer and producer in the up and coming UK band, Dancing On Tables, racking up over 3 million streams on Spotify with their infectious indie pop; Skilled in Ableton, Logic Pro X and Protools, working on projects quickly and efficiently.

Based out of my home studio in central Scotland, I work remotely with artists, bands and other songwriters. I primarily specialise in Top 50 Pop, Indie, Alternative and Electronic music, however have worked across a variety of genres throughout my career so far. We have had tracks featured on E4 Made In Chelsea, Adidas (in collaboration with Schuh) advert, and a nationwide Scottish Water TV advert.

PRODUCTION: Do you have the bare bones of a song? Maybe even just a verse/chorus? I can help turn your ideas into radio-ready records. Whatever your skill set or playing ability, together we can build your songs and fulfil your visions.

INSTRUMENTAL: Do you need a musician to play on your records? I am available to track electric/acoustic guitars, electric/fretless bass, keyboard/synth programming and drum sequencing. Using high quality instruments, recording equipment and other top of the range software, I can tailor parts and arrangement to your needs.

EDITING/MIXING/MASTERING: With editing, I can take your stems and get them mix ready in various DAWs; clean up your sessions; quantise your audio/MIDI, phrase correct multi-tracks, tune/comp your vocals and more. I work in the box and mix/master songs to your requirements.

Interview with GregorStobieMusic

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Its all about finding the right person to work with on a project. I can offer my time and dedication to your project most importantly, furthermore, I am constantly looking for fresh new talent to work with so finding artists who have a passion for creating and a drive to make only the best music need to hit me up!

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: Throughout high school I learned to play a plethora of instruments and was lucky enough to learn about recording/production just as processes became digital. After founding Dancing On Tables in 2014, we went onto release music and tour extensively picking up a large and ever growing fanbase with support from the BBC, Spotify, Apple Music and Variety Magazine. Last year, I decided it was time to use my instrumental, songwriting and production skills and take them to other bands/artists in order to help them make great music and realise there visions.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: As I am still in the early stages of my career, I am discovering new music, methods, techniques everyday. I feel this gives me a fresh perspective to create uniquely without any limitation.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: FINNEAS - it is 2020 and he is at the top of his game as an artist and producer, currently redefining pop music at 22 years. Working with someone like that would be a incredible learning experience as well as an opportunity to share ideas.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: When I produce, sound choice is a so important. When piecing together instruments, synths, samples, vocal chops etc, it's easy to get carried away and overload any song in attempt to make it sound 'full' or 'big'. I see a song like a jigsaw puzzle, where elements can slot together based on sonic character. 3/4 well chosen, edited and effected parts will always trump 20 layers of not thought through noise.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Most genres under the 'Pop' bracket. Electronic, indie, singer/songwriter, alternative, folk. Any music that can tell us a stories and can be related to by millions of people.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: When it comes to production, my ears tune into arrangement first and foremost. I like to map out a songs journey and ensure the lyrically content is being accompanied in the most effective way possible.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I first like to get to know the artist on a more personal level, connecting with them on an emotional level can help make or break a production. This process can help me develop better ideas and allow me to understand the artists end goal. One this connection has been made, it's important that we push for the perfect finished product and don't stop until we get there.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: 4 pieces of production gear I would be lost without - Apollo x8p, Neumann TLM 103, UAD2 pre's, Yamaha HS7's. Other essentials include Fender strat, 77' p bass and Arturia Keylab.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: Professionals that keep it fresh and who strive to be at the forefront of music evolution - Billie Eilish, The 1975, Arctic Monkey, Sam Fender, Tove Lo, Maisie Peters, Greg Wells, Ian Kirkpatrick, Ariel Rechtshaid, Max Martin, Trevor Horn, Paul Epworth.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: Production, instrumentals and mixing/mastering. I help to develop the artists vision by building on their ideas and translating that into unique sounding records.
