Chris “IITRX” Burtley, was born is Pennsylvania and raised in South Jersey. He decided to attend Full Sail University not only to learn how to produce music but all aspects of media. In addition to learning all the technical aspects of recording arts and sound, he is working to make himself more well-rounded by gaining an education in the areas of game audio and the general entertainment business like film production. His goal however was always to pursue a career in audio engineering.

IITRX moved to Atlanta for a few years, after graduating from Full Sail University, and had the opportunity to work with artists like 24hrs, Roscoe Dash, Quentin Miller and many more. He has engineered for artists in the Rap, R&B, Gospel and Latin genres.

IITRX [tu-trak] → a representation of the duality that defines the man behind the name. It pays homage to his legacy as the second in his family to have the full name Christopher Burtley. It symbolizes his career as both an engineer and producer by referencing a two-track or a stereo track. But ultimately, it comes down to one overall meaning: there’s more to his music than you might think…

IITRX offers recording, mixing and mastering services. If you are looking for and engineer to add creativity and collaborate with you, look no further.

IITRX is a consummate professional. From the get-go, he was clear about his process, rates, and timeline. He communicated with me throughout the whole project, promptly informing me of any upcoming delays and providing updates on the project regularly. He's very much worth working with and I plan to do so again going forward.

Interview with IITRX

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: For mixing: -Do you have a rough mix and do you want my mix to sound like the rough mix? -Do you have references for this mix? -How many tracks are in this song? -Is the instrumental tracked out? -How soon do you need this project completed?

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: When it comes to mixing, please provide as much detail as possible about what you are looking for or expecting to get. For example, provide the rough mix, provide a few references, how many tracks is the mix, etc..

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I graduated from Full Sail University in 2016 with a Recording Arts BS degree. In 2017 I moved to Atlanta for a few years. While living in Atlanta I had the opportunity to work with artists like Anthony Ramos, 24hrs, Roscoe Dash, Quentin Miller, along with many others. I have been engineering for about 7 years now. Currently, I freelance at a studio in Philadelphia and plan to move back to Atlanta.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: I believe my strongest skill is vocal production. When I'm recording an artist I usually try to get the best take(s) of their performance. I also try to keep the mix in mind while recording, this thought process allows me to suggest ideas to an artist while they're recording. When I'm mixing a record, I usually fine different creative ways to make vocals sound interesting and stand out. I often am able to do this the most with R&B records.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: When recording try to get the best performance possible. Also record more takes than you need. It is better to have more and not need it than need more and not have it.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Rap, R&B, Gospel and Latin

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: Noah "40" Shebib, Jaycen Joshua, Manny Marroquin and MixedByAli to name a few mix engineers.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: As a recording engineer, I'm capture the artists energy and performance. I usually collaborate with them to get the best performance need for the song they are recording. While doing that I'm also sculpting the sound of the record with a rough mix. As a mix engineer, I'm blending and amplifying the elements I'mm given to work with. Usually I will tune and mix my clients vocals. Depending on if I am given beat trackouts, I will mix that as well.
