Interview with Gold Record Voice
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am very proud of the song "Lovers Collide" because it was my first official release and It represents the beginning of my career.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on many tracks with OceanLight productions for upcoming releases in Germany, Japan, Scandinavia, more..
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: yes, I Would recommend BodyBangers production team. They make big tracks
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital for this type if work is much more efficient and makes it cost effective for both of us. If time wasn;t of the essence, I would prefer analog.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to always try my best and I will be honest if I can't deliver.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love music and singing makes me feel alive.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Why aren't you signed? Why aren't you doing anything with your music? My answer is: I am doing something but it's in Europe and it takes time. I am always working on things and not everything makes it to release.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People think I don't do music because I don't perform out very often. Not many people understand the business and although I am not performing weekly, I am happy being creative in another way.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your vision for this song, and do you have any samples of current or past songs that inspired you?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Share your song whether you think it's done or not. I am used to hearing unfinished demo's and remember, that's why I am here.. to help you finish the song!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started taking this seriously in 2012 and that's when I met my songwriting partner/manager who has assisted in the growing of my business. I never realized the power of the internet until we posted an add one day. 4 years later, this is my full time job.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I think my style is a modern mixture of classic rock mixed with a bit of country . Although not many hear the country in me, it's there.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Justin Beiber because I think our voices would be interestingly seemless together.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Finish the song before you start mixing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Dance, Deep house, Acoustic
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think my strongest skill is being able to write songs and/or toplines on the spot in a kind of freestyle way. It seems to work well for me as opposed to sitting down with a pen and trying to write a song.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have been told that I bring out the emotion of songs. I am also able to perform in many genres. I consider myself unique and I try not to think too much, i just go get a feeling and go with it.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually listen to a clients demo, then come up with a price. I like to talk to the client via phone or email to get a feel for where their mind is at and I try to align myself with that.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I am lucky enough to have a personal Engineer whom I share my studio with. We use Pro Tools 10 , Apple, Focusrite Red Net Mic pre amp, Shure Sm7b (favorite mic).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love Stevie Nicks and I am also influenced by singers like Fiona Apple, Shania Twain. I pretty much grew up on country.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Dance, Rock, Pop
