Interview with Nathan Jarrelle
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I love 'Unorthodox.' It was produced by my long-time friend Damian Alston. I love hard spitting and this album reflects my love for the form of true Hip-Hop, which is really just preaching over drums and Hi-Hats. I love every song on this album and it means so much to me because it truly explains the gospel in a nut shell while relating what Jesus did on the cross for you and me to the current events that we see in the world right now. Check out the link to the album trailer below! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8MQ0-fBGTI
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working the music that will be released next year.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to do the best that I can, not just for you but for Jesus whose gifts and presence live inside of me.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love finding new ways to say the same message and I love the challenge to be real and authentic in my music. I love the fact that people are being saved through the music that I make, that they are being encouraged and strengthened by the music that I make. I love being there for those who listen to my music. I love that Jesus is with me and directing every lyric and melody through His Precious Spirit
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Are you Christian that follows what Jesus says? -If so, why? and if not, why? What is your goal for making music? Do you believe that Jesus cares about what you say in your lyrics and how you use the time and talents that He's has given you? Are you up for making free music? What are your expectations and intentions in collaborating with me?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Know what you want and don't be afraid to ask me questions. If i'm for something, i will let you know and if i'm not I will let you know as well. No hard feelings, if we will be collaborating we should be moving towards a common goal.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Wow, that's a tough question lol I would take my mic, I would take my Bible (the most important piece of equipment for me), laptop, monitors, and my headphones!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been recording since 2016 and my goal is to reach the lost and the saved with the gospel of Jesus Christ as much as I possibly can without selling my soul for it, without compromising myself and standing firmly on the what the Bible says.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Eclectic, it's a mix of Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, and R&B.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Travis Greene and Jonathan Mcreynolds for sure!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Take your time. The more time you take making sure your production sounds good to you and your listener, the less time that you will spend going back correcting errors you could have caught had you slowed down in your processes.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Christian Hip-Hop mainly, I am branching out into singer-songwriter territory with recording my upcoming acoustics but Christian Hip-Hop is my bread and butter.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think rapping and forming cadences (flows).
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring versatility and liveliness. I love to make sure what I am saying is full of impact and that it stands out from the crowd of rappers who are working in the same field as I am.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to work on one or two songs at a time. Once I have a demo's, I sit with them for a few days, identifying the issues or the improvements I would like to make. I make those changes within a few days and go on to the mastering process. I record in bulk, the cover art is usually made after the recording process is finished.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an at home studio. One mic, one presonus audio box, a set of monitors and garage band currently.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really feel inspired by Travis Greene and Jonathan Mcreynolds.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in making animated cover arts as well as mixing for artist.
