Interview with Barry Maclean
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I've recorded, I always check my vocal very carefully against the guide vocal to make sure that I'm getting the intended rhythm and notes absolutely spot on for you.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a Shure SM7B that goes into an Apollo Twin and then into Logic Pro X. I see this setup in studios all around the world, so I promise you are getting the absolute best.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My first love is 80s music like Talking Heads. My second love is indie groups like The Killers. And my third love is pop producers like Jack Antanoff.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'm a songwriter and have had several hit records, but I don't get a chance to sing on records as much as I used to, which is why I love it when it happens!
