Basically, Marvin single-handedly elevated my song to a whole other level. I initially came to him just for drums, and they were so good I re-arranged my entire song for them, and had him mix the song as well which he obviously also knocked out of the park. I just finished telling him that I want to work with him as much as possible before he blows up and is too important to take my calls!

Interview with Marvin Buessau

Q: What's your typical work process?
A: More often than not I will just receive a vocal track and some reference material and thats it. Then I go ahead and build a production around the song working closely with the artist to stay in line with the artists vision. For Vocal processing, mixing and mastering its a bit simpler, as I just receive the Vocal tracks, STEMS or Two-track respectively and provide the service.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly produce full tracks for Artists that approach me with a song they have already written, but need somebody to take it to the next level. So I will often just receive a Vocal and build everything around it. I recently have been hired for mastering quite often as well.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I am using a MacBook Pro to run mainly Ableton and Pro-Tools, while I am also proficient in Logic and Reason. Software includes: Melodyne, ReVoice Pro 4, Selections of UAD PlugIns and Waves Plugins and many more. The studio has a variety of different small and large diaphragm condenser microphones as well as some dynamic microphones. There's an Apollo Quad interface, eight Audient Pre-Amps and a pair of ADAM A7X.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by brilliant producers like Louis Bell, Frank Dukes and Ian Kirkpatrick. Their perfectionistic sound, ability to intelligently fill the space and develop energy through their productions is mind-blowing.
