Interview with Darius
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I produce in FL Studio 20 & Ableton Live 11. My speakers are the KRK Rokit RP6. They're running through the a Focusrite Scarlett sound interface. I produce on a custom made computer and mostly on a Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop. For listening on headphones I got the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO (250 OHM) and the Sennheiser HD 205 as reference ones. I got 3 midi-controller, M-Audio Oxygen-61, Nektar SE-25 and a AKAI Professional MPD218.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Beatmaking and engineering is the most common type of work I've done for other people so far.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: It's an upcoming track with the producer BTWRKS and the rapper Benni Hunnit. I did the whole production with BTWRKS and it's my best track so far. Coming in June.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I'm not working on specific songs, I experiment a lot with new plugins and try experimental stuff in many genres, for example House which I did last in 2018 or Metal Trap kinda things.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Svniivan, he is a dope songwriter with huge success. Definetly worth checking him out.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like all the analog gear like Moog's and stuff, but money does play a big role so digital is my go to at the moment.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I do my best to make a high-quality product.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I got more than one style. I got my EDM-style with aggressive synths, hard drums and distorted instruments. On the other hand I like doing chiller' stuff too with reverby sounds and smooth sidechaining.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: It might be Terror Reid aka Getter, because he's doing many genres and experiments a lot just like me. Another reason is I like doing these 90's BoomBap beats and Reid's style is characterized as 90's sound.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: PEAK-EQ and DYNAMIC EQ
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on many genres at the moment, but most it's beats or experimenting with new plugins.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: When I produce my song, you can hear my emotion which I had when I started a track.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I play around with Serum or other VSTs, then play around on the midi-keyboard and then build something up on it. Sometimes I started with Drums, especially when doing Oldschool HipHop beats.
