Interview with The Stew
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: We bring the skills to deliver a great product. Whether it is proper recording technique, which is fleeting nowadays; detailed mixing, performance coaching, etc. We give the best results by getting the best results out of our clients. 110% is our motto!!!!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: We work on music from all genres but most frequently in hip-hop, pop, soul, rock, edm & gospel.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think our ability to relate to artists and cater to their needs. Nowadays everyone has a way to record, why would people want to work with us? The way we relate to people and the relationships we build keep us in this thing.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First we ask an artist, what are you trying to get out of this? Like what sound do you have in mind, what is your reference, what do you want your music to say? Obviously each case is different, but we like to get to know our clients way before any button is pressed or fader is moved. This is a people business, we just happen to make noise and use nice mics and cool preamps to capture it!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have two rooms: Room one is for smaller project studio type situations. Mac Pro Tower, UAD Apollo 8 MKII, full UAD plugin bundle, Adam Monitoring, Pro Tools 12, Logic, Ableton Suite, etc. iso booth and cool synths and drum machines! Basically a great place to get those vocals or instrument takes. As well as a great production and mix environment. Room two is the grand setup. Great for full band tracking, voice over, instrument overdubs and more. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: We love anything or anyone that sounds good, you know what I mean? Not who is most popular or who has the most twitter/social media hype, but those who have taken the time to get their work as best as they possibly can.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: We'd like to say we do it all! From vocal recording, comping and mixing.....to music production and mastering services! Our team has all of the bases covered!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never have a formula. Music is emotional, let your emotions take over.
