Hello, I am recording and mix engineer with 10 years experience in the field. I love working with people and helping them express their creativity.

I offer mixing services. I mix with high quality gear and environments for optimum results. I also provide music production services for artists that need help making their songs more professional or that may be looking for something different. I primarily work remotely in my project studio where I record and mix. If a potential client is in the Chicagoland Area then they could definitely come to my recording studio located on the Northwest side of town. I also provide analog tape transfers and cassette tape duplication services.

Interview with Reginald "VolcanoBeats" Walson

What type of music do you usually work on?
I work in most electronic genres such as hip-hop, r&b, house, electro pop, edm, indie rock, etc.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on the debut EP of a cool band named Our Fathers and a soul singer by the name of Brandon Holmes. Both projects should be done early 2016.
Analog or digital and why?
Both, they both rock. You just have to use them in harmony.
What's your 'promise' to your clients?
I promise to provide top notch service with attention to detail, creativity all while being affordable for independent artists; because they rock!
What do you like most about your job?
Everything! I love meeting new people and helping them to express their creativity.
What questions do you ask prospective clients?
I ask them what they are trying to achieve with their music and what are you looking for me to provide.
If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
My Macbook, Maschine, my neumann mic, my apollo interface, my Juno 106 and inspiration. All I need.
How would you describe your style?
Im a chameleon. I adapt to what is needed.
Which artist would you like to work with and why?
The artist I would like to work with is Aloe Blacc. I like how he blends several different types of music and feelings into his productions. Also his use of horns is phenomenal.
Can you share one music production tip?
Never have a formula. Music is emotional, let your emotions take over.
What's your strongest skill?
Working with people. People first.
What do you bring to a song?
I bring clarity. I inject emotion into production whether on the production side or mixing.
Tell us about your studio setup.
I have a hybrid setup where I use a digital setup with hardware pieces so that I can add that character that only capacitors and analog components can provide.
What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
I am inspired by other mix engineers and producers that push the envelope to advance what we do.
Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
I mostly provide mixing services for a wide range clients in a wide range of genres.
