Interview with BANDEMIC

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I promise my clients that they’re going to walk away guaranteed happy and pleased with one of the best mixes they have ever had in there entire career of music and I know for sure they will come back only because I know I am very talented and I know what I am capable of doing i also know I’m like the coolest white boy doing it lol no but honestly I have in my career i have touched souls with my fingerprints on people’s music, thru my mixing your song won’t just be pleasant to listen to but your message will come across very clear no matter weather you recorded in a closet outside or somewhere loud I promise the most amazing mix out of me...just be ready to all my creators I know you haven’t heard potent mixing yet I have only ran into so many engineers that are on it like

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: Are you doing this to fit in or are you doing this because you’re passionate about it and you have something to say and you want people to hear you and your story, do you want to reach others through your art and create change in the world?

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: before you hire Anyone always make sure that that person is genuine and actually loves his craft and wants to build a relationship with you as a client That way you’re not just wasting your money hiring any good engineer you’re hiring somebody that likes your music and understands you just because their engineer is the best in the industry does not mean he is going to be the best for you A lot of engineers only work or are motivated by money, find someone passionate like me and loves there work only then you will hear the difference in your music.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I’m young and hip my style is always changing because I don’t mix music the same way as the last song every song has its own identity like how we have our own fingerprints,

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: Tbh drake , again I love melodic music and he is on point with it, and so every creator knows i am walking thru LA with my mobile studio finding artists I know or heard of and higher end and I am recording on the spot and screen recording via laptop and video taping and I have episodes on YouTube coming out soon of mixing tutorials so I wanna say my goal is to work with as many artists as I possibly can I want to be that engineer that’s known around the world

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Don’t try to compete with the beat as every producer will make there beat at different volumes loud or soft, you want the beat to compete with the artists vocals so always start off by turning down the instrumental before turning up vocals

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I bring your song to life, I give your music a vibe and then make the sound , I make it full and give it width and depth , I make it have body and then I think it out to highlight certain parts and you can hear the difference because I work with passion I love mixing music more then anything in the world

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I listen to the records first and find the vision the artists wants to paint, and then I listen to it a couple more times for myself to get comfortable with the record finally before I start I create my own vision in my mind and then I will start mixing the drums first if there’s a track out for the instrumental if not I dive right into vocals and start slowly bringing in more audio placing it perfectly in the mix

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I own a mobile studio I run a scarlet focusrite interface connect to my MacBook 2019 pro I have 2 Avalon’s pre amps and a U87 mic I literally travel the USA and do what I do best ! Put in work and change people’s lives as well as mine ! I also have 2 very small monitors that are perfect for me to mix out , if you can make your mixes sound amazing in low to medium quality speakers it will sound amazing everywhere (Hence Yamaha NS10s) , And then I have my studio I work at Larrabee Studios in North Hollywoood look it up you will see the dream gear I work off of

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: NBA young boy, Ryan leslie, Jaycen Joshau (I used to work under him at larrabee studios) Kanye West, Pharrell, Dr. Dre

  21. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  22. A: Project was called I Am Billard i was the Executive Producer of it , and the reason why I’m proud because I started this kid from no1 in the city knowing whom he was I helped develop him and created a sound for him but he was also a great rapper , we created a wave so big I got him signed to live mixtapes , I got him so big he got verified on twitter and ig I also produced and got the attention from machine gun Kelly for the first time in my city because of this project and that led to me working with him and other greater opportunities that landed me in LA, I’ll tell you what life is crazy but I can tell you this that it taught me to knowing I can start from the bottom with someone who want it as bad as I do and create something larger then life, so while my goal is to work with as many artist I can and give them amazing work, I’m soul searching for the next artist

  23. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  24. A: Actually mixing an album/Project for Michel Pras original founder and artist In the “FUGEES” (Wycliffe Jean, Lauryn Hill, Pras Michel) entitled “ Elon Musk” and the track I am currently mixing has Rick Ross and Mary J Blidge on it we also switched the instrumental for it as well already .

  25. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  26. A: No because if you read my interview you read my goal

  27. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  28. A: Digital , I learned analog in college and I’ll tell you what the sound can’t ever be recreated but sheeeesh one mistake and your cutting tape putting it back together redoing the whole song lol when in digital it’s just copy paste cut nice and simple much easier and I can still mix it close and or recreate that analog sound and vibe

  29. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  30. A: I like most is that I can meet and network with people all over the world and we all have the same interest and similar goals to make meaningful music and or just doing music for fun and want to share it with others

  31. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  32. A: Man how did you know I wanted this sound ? Because I been doing this for 15 years lol and I know music, How are you so good and efficient at this I never seen someone work pro tools like you

  33. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  34. A: A lot of artists think I can be to honest with them, i will turn down mixing peoples music and artists get offended again I’m not doing this for the money I don’t care if you offered me 20K and your music is terrible or I can’t connect with it, I’m not doing it . Also people think I got “ lucky” to be know this or to be doing something I love, one I spent years mastering this craft and everyday I’m learning more and more and 2 I woke up everyday and decided to create this job for me I wasn’t getting paid when I first started I could have threw in the towel and worked a regular 9 | 5 .... but I didn’t ! I earned my stripes I know pro tools like the back of my hand so I make it look easy that’s not luck that’s years of hard work, and what most people don’t know is when your passionate about your work like me I spend more time and put so much effort into the record then I should compared to pay ratio that when I’m Done it’s like my soul is tired..... but there’s this satisfaction of knowing what the arist will think as well, so the what I’m saying isn’t the biggest misconception is the whole job people don’t really know how much of your mind and soul have to go into this you get ,emtslly drained, most people see the fun with the engineer not the countless amount of hours eqing and setting things in a perfect place !

  35. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  36. A: 1. My laptop 2. My keyboard 3. My hard drive 4. My microphone 5. My Avalon pre amp

  37. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  38. A: I started in my mother’s basement and wanted to work with this local rapper who was signed to sony in 2007 so bad lol well it’s funny one of my best friends RIP who used to serve me weed back In the day knew this artist and I finally met him on the side of his house I was star struck my first time being in contact with the artist I wanted to work with I started doing music because of him , long story short we worked we built s relationship i became his go to producer and engineer and because he had pull in the city i ended up being a well known producer and engineer in my city I still own 3 studios in Cleveland Ohio and I still have the first studio I opened up and there all successfull, I have been doing this for 16 years and now I am fully all about the youth and teaching other humans what I know the streets are full of violence let’s stay out of them and make an impact on the world together, so it’s nice knowing I can help younger people get off the streets and tap into a part of there mind that they never even tried to access

  39. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
