Art Wavey on SoundBetter

Multi-Faceted Songwriter & Producer-Engineer based in NC. Experience working with Grammy-Nominated Engineers and Producers. Helping artists move towards the sounds that define them.

My name is Jackson and I've been writing and producing songs for over a decade. I specialize in Indie, Dreampop, R&B, and Soul.

Services I offer include:

Production/Writing: Send in a basic version of your track, and I will send back a version with expanded instrumentation, from traditional instruments to textures and atmospheres. Once we decide which direction to take the song, I will focus and improve upon the elements that make the song something special. I strive to make sure the end product is one that you love and identify with.

Mixing/Mastering: If you already have a full-fledged song, but you are looking to take it to the next level sonically, I offer Mixing and Mastering services. Send in stems or a two-track of the song you want mixed, and I will create a mix to convey the energy and emotion of the track. Prices based on the types and depth of service.

Session Guitar: Sometimes, there is a vibe on a track only a guitar can bring out. Send a two-track of your song, and I will add a guitar track to bring out those feelings. Once we are happy with the product, I will create a high quality version.

If you feel I'm a good fit for your needs, reach out and we can discuss which route you want to pursue! Prices are negotiable based on the intensity and duration of the project.

I look forward to hearing from you!

10/10. Art is very creative and unique and can make you sound like YOU.
He's one of a kind. Man, i don't want to rate him 5 because I fear that you might steal him from me. But I got to. Because he truly deserves it.
Much love. Definitely coming back for more.

I am completely satisfied with the experience of working with Art Wavey. They listened to every note, critique, and creative direction I gave them. Working with them was smooth like butter, and the payout was inexpensive. I went into this project with a simple demo, and came out with a phenomenally produced single. I have two more songs I want to work with them on, and can easily foresee continuing my work with Art Wavey. A huge thanks to them, and I highly recommend working with them!

Interview with Art Wavey

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: At what caliber do you see your artistic career, and do you have the drive to reach that point?

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I have been working on records for close to a decade at this point. I have done everything from show promotion and booking, to live sound and tracking. After trying on a bunch of different hats, I've come to realize working with the artist to create something they can feel proud about, and identify with, is where I most enjoy working in this industry.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: I would say my style blends the conventional forms of song structure, with dreamy, unconventional elements to resonate with the emotional experience.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: If you can get your low end sounding tight and groovy, all of the other elements will fall into place.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: Recently I've had the pleasure of working with many different styles of music, usually they will fall into either R&B/Soul or Dream Pop/Indie Rock.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: I can often bring an unexpected approach to creating a song, which can then be utilized by the artist to take it where it needs to go. Having the understanding of the artistic approach allows for all of your work to flow more naturally.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I like to bring the "out-of-the-box" feel with my writing style, often using extended chords and inverted chord shapes to give an unusual texture to progressions. I find that approach often brings a smooth, chilled out atmosphere that allows the song to resonate on a deeper level.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I like to start with a chord progression and melodic idea as the skeleton of the song. Once I have that much, I craft the low end and percussive elements to fit the mood, and from there I start to create the other sections of the song.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: My project studio includes a pair of Adam Audio T5Vs, an Ableton Push rig with Suite included, a number of condenser microphones, and various keyboards and guitars

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: My most common collaborations involve production, beat-making, and cowriting
