Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have any demos I can listen to and Do you have and songs that inspire you.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Know what you want. Know your sound and your vision but don’t let that be your prison. Collaboration is about compromise sometimes.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I think about this a lot. My laptop, midi controller, my bass, audio interface, and a guitar(which one is another question entirely though lol)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been fortunate to have come across many talented musicians over the years and have been creating daily for a decade now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Constantly evolving as my tastes change.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Probably chaz bundick, to me he’s the artist of the last decade. He keeps changing and creating and doesn’t stop. That’s inspiring to me.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Sometimes less is more. The space between the notes are just as important as the notes.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Everything from electronic and hip hop to blues and folk and in between.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skills are writing guitar parts and bass lines but also mixing and analyzing the vibe of a piece.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I know how to write lines and parts that fit.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends on the genera of the project. That will usually dictate where I start and my composition and production choices.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Lots of outboard neve, chandler, universal audio, etc. I use an Apollo converter and I run my stems to tape. I keep it classic as far as monitoring and use Yamaha ns10s and tannoys.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Tame Impala, mac demarco and toro y moi are in my estimation the the closest thing my ideal of what the modern musician is and encompasses. As far as production I love the classics like glen johns and George Martin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do everything from session work, production, mixing and mastering all the way to graphic design for album art.
