Anonymus intro

Many see mixing as a technical process but I see it as an extension of the art. It's my goal to express the emotion of the song in the sonics of the music.

  1. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  2. A: Many people see mixing as technical but I see it as an extension of the art.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: I dig deep into the creative intent of each project to get in the head of the artist.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Find people that are the best at what they do and assemble a team of specialists.

  7. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  8. A: I am a simple man - I could make a top notch record with a Macbook and a decent pair of headphones. Anything else is icing on the cake.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I have spent years playing in bands, recording and producing, and now I'm focussed on mixing.

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: Impactful, energetic, and authentic.

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: It'd be a dream to work with an artist like Spoon. They have so much vibe and energy.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: The best mix comes from the best arrangement. Understand what the focal point of each section of the song is and make it stand out. Understand what the supporting players are and craft them to support the focal point.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: Typically I focus on rock, indie, and pop rock music. I love working with real recorded drums - there is a life there that can be simulated in programmed drums.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Bringing emotion to a song through sonic elements.

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: It's my job to understand the creative intent of the artist and the song and ensure that that is sonically captured.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: I work remotely with my clients generally once their production is complete and they can hand off the multitracks to me. From there I do a static mix to get feedback on, which I believe to be about 90% complete. Once we work out feedback with the artist I finish out the mix with the final touches.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I work remotely out of my own studio that I have built out to be my own ideal mixing environment. I have custom monitors and custom acoustic treatments suited to the space.

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: I am continually inspired by the works of Eric Valentine, Rick Rubin, Will Yip, and Sam Pura.

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: I focus solely on mixing, so I can make that the best it can be without being distracted by other aspects of the production.

Terms Of Service

I'll keep making revisions as long as we both agree it's in service of the song. My turn around time is dependent on how fast clients can provide feedback and whatever other active projects I have.
