Yussef "YUCIFER" Cheaytilli

Trap Producer

Yussef "YUCIFER" Cheaytilli on SoundBetter

Yussef Cheaytilli is a producer, audio engineer, recording artist, and bilingual songwriter in English and Spanish. He mainly works within the genres of Rap, Hip Hop, and Trap. Services include mixing, mastering, and production work for hire.

I've been a musician since before the age of 10 and started receiving formal academic formation in musical studies at the age of 14. I finished musical theory studies after three years in music school and graduated as a guitarist by the time I was 17.

I kept engineering and producing while attending my studies but continued excelling in different academic endeavors until I graduated from the London School of Economics as a Philosophy graduate major.

During my time in graduate school, I decided to enroll in a higher academic level sound engineering course at Point Blank Music School in London to hone my skills further. I was admitted to Point Blank's higher-level sound engineering modules and graduated from Mixing and Mastering with a Distinction.

This period helped me ascertain I wanted to pursue sound engineering and music production as a full-time job. I learned under the tutelage of award-winning engineers and have since launched a trap-audiophile record label. I sign and develop talent and am now an established producer and sound engineer working with independent and major label clients alike.

Interview with Yussef "YUCIFER" Cheaytilli

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Full-length albums and EPs.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: My mentor. He is not on SoundBetter.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both domains have their limitations, but certain pieces of hardware become indispensable even while working almost entirely digital.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: That it is not art.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: Where do you see yourself in a year post-release? Will you make this release tie into your previous catalog? Is it a one-time thing or are you looking to switch direction in terms of sound? What have other producers and engineers done that prevented you from working with them again?

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Please be very clear about your requirements. I can't get inside your head to listen to that idea unless you hum it :)!

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: Methodic and classic.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Always focus on serving the music with every single stroke of the brush.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Understanding.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: Clients will often provide me with a top-line melody idea to develop the instrumental. We discuss the song's direction by going through the lyrics and their theme, what emotions they represent, and I compose a beat around that. It varies whether or not we are in the studio together at songwriting. Another typical service is recording talent over an instrumental two-track I then mix and master to completion. Clients need to send the instrumental in stems.
