Interview with Two Can
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I think i am most proud of my record 'Got Habits'. I was 21 when I sent that song to Warner and they signed it on the spot flew me out to Sydney the next week to drink champagne with the executives of the company. The song went on to get millions of plays, huge spotify editorial support, me on the road touring internationally, and opening a lot of doors for me as a producer and giving the young me the confidence and belief I have in my product today!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Im working on a huge amount, doing a lot of production right now for Saint JHN, working with Kanye Wests Engineer on some projects, and producing a lot of music for my own project 'Two Can'
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. They both offer extremely different things. I think digital has monumental flexibility, where as analogue has a lot of warmth and the saturation using both of these things in contrast is the key.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Complete satisfaction!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I don't need to wear a suit!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: 'Whats your turn around time' I am very happy to cater what ever the client wants for this, I work extremely efficiently.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That you don't need to know music theory!!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I will usually ask for 2-3 reference tracks and why you like them and how you want me to incorporate some of those elements perhaps into your records. I work very well with references, as it gives me very specific things to achieve and a quality to match.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Please be specific when you are sending me stuff, I want to achieve your goal with the record, and facilitate what you have in mind!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take -Shadowhills Mastering Compressor -My Juno 106 -my 1974 Fender Tele -My midi keyboard & a heap of beers
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this for about 8 years now full time. I have been working with Warner as a producer for about 3 years, Im signed to Universal Music for Publishing, and have had multiple large scaling releases with most of the biggest labels in the world including Universal, EMI, Sony, Warner, Interscope, Ultra Records etc.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Electronic & pop combined with uplifting and unique synth work
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: There are lots, but off the top of my head, Upsahl, The Arctic Monkeys, The Gorrilaz!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I would recommend having your master channel on a bus of all your project in a group and a SEPERATE group for your drums. Meaning your master channel has nothing on it. and your drums aren't being crushed by a limiter. This retains the transients of the drums and makes them feel much more organic sounding.

A: I bring years of expertise of a musician myself making it from absolutely nothing. I am also very connecting in the scene as I was a student at Berklee College of Music & Icon Collective. So if you wanted like Bass Guitar parts or any instruments I can outsource that with friends and get the parts YOU want for your track most importantly. I want to be able to achieve your vision :)

A: I work extremely fast, so I can get things done within your time frame of a day or 2 easily.
