Summer Swee-Singh on SoundBetter

Classically-trained pianist/keyboardist, composer, string/orchestral arranger & contractor who writes for piano & strings/orchestra; my studio & touring credits include Bebe Rexha, Anthony Green, Chon, KSHMR, Circa Survive, Naia Izumi, Roddy Ricch, Chief Keef, Until the Ribbon Breaks, Alexandra Shipp, Psychic Barber, Thunder Jackson, Dayseeker, etc

**Clients usually send me songs (song should ideally be tracked to a click; please include BPM) that they would like to add piano &/or orchestral elements to &/or reharmonize. Feel free to give direction if you wish!**
I specialize in writing & recording piano & string arrangements to accompany almost any genre—from progressive rock, to pop, to indie/singer-songwriter, to EDM, to hip hop & rap, I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.
I’ve been contacted directly by artists & their management & co-released music with the likes of Anthony Green (“Would You Still Be With Strings feat. Summer Swee-Singh” where I reharmonized and reorchestrated his 2018 album “Would You Still Be In Love”), Until the Ribbon Breaks (“Here Comes the Feeling Reimagination feat. Summer Swee-Singh”), & KSHMR (“Chords of KSHMR: Vol. 1 - Summer Swee-Singh” beatpack on Splice).
I’ve played piano or keyboard live, arranged for piano & strings, contracted string players, & played flute for tours with Circa Survive, Chon, & Anthony Green. I’ve additionally done studio work (piano & composition/arranging) for the likes of Naia Izumi, Gashi, Psychic Barber; I've also performed piano/keyboard live, usually playing my own piano arrangements, backing Bebe Rexha (on The Ellen Show), Alexandra Shipp, Roddy Ricch’s Trap Symphony, & Chief Keef’s Trap Symphony, Mothé, Love, Alexa, & Dayseeker.

Summer added some much needed layering to my song. She’s quick, responsive, and very talented. She provided wav files and midi tracks so I could even change the sounds, what a bonus!

My band hired Summer to write and record b3 and baby grand piano parts for our single and everything she did fit the song perfectly and really filled the song out to perfection! She is so easy and fun to work with!

Summer is an incredibly professional and well-rounded musician. I've done multiple sessions with her and she is not only an expressive pianist but an excellent string arranger as well. She is my go to recommendation for session pianists and there is no doubt that she will be able to help you with your project.

Interview with Summer Swee-Singh

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010 with a B.A. in Legal Studies and a Music Minor. I was not supposed to be a musician, but I realized while working at my 9-5 that I only had one shot to attempt to make it in music, so I left to pursue a career music and haven't turned back since. I have been performing professionally as a solo pianist since 2002; additionally, I have been arranging and composing professionally since 2015 and doing studio + touring work since 2017.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: Classical crossover with a bit of alternative and progressive rock influence. My influences include Frederic Chopin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ludvig van Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Muse, Thrice, Circa Survive, Polyphia, Chon, Ratatat, Justice, Beirut, Billie Eilish, and Sufjan Stevens.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: Finneas + Billie Eilish, Dustin Kensrue, Sufjan Stevens, or Matthew Bellamy. They are incredible musicians; I believe my skillset and unique compositional voice would complement theirs very well, even though the artists I mentioned vary in genre.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: I am currently working on writing new music for my band and am working on many remote collaborations with various artists (spanning various genres).

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: The biggest misconception is that all pianists and composers/arrangers were created equal or have similar voices. The product we all deliver varies greatly based upon our background and experiences!

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: I would bring my baby grand piano, my laptop, my Audix lollipop microphone, my Earthworks piano-mic system, and my headphones.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I bring my own unique voice as a composer and/or musician. My memorable melodies, harmonies, and countermelodies are a large part of my compositional "voice" and my classical background, emotionality, and technique shines through in my playing.
