Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: The uncertainty each project brings and the excitement when it starts to sound really good. But also the gratitude of clients when it's all over and the music spins out.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Do you make an free mix sample? Sorry but no then mixing is much more complex procedure then mastering for example. Making a good mix sample means finishing the whole job for free. That´s not how professionals do...

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I will do my best to exceed the expectations in the agreement. My reputation and quality of work done is of great importance for me.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: Det finns många projekt som jag var involverad i under de senaste 20 åren och alla var imponerande på särskilt sätt.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Both are good in their own way and have advantages and disadvantages. Hybrid I guess!

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That Loud is equal with Sound.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: Do you have stems or recorded tracks and if they sound produced? What is your reference for the sound and your favorite artist? Do you know how to export the tracks/stems from your DAW? When would you like the mix to be completed?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Lets make this together according to delivered quality and agreed requirements. Just for the information, in music industry applies "shit in, shit out".

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: I do not really know what to decide to be honest.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I started 1988 building my own electronic gears and learning music, sounds and playing a drums… 1996 I started to collect professional gears for mastering and CD-replication...

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Pang on beetroot :-) Did not know mixing engineers has styles, that was a new one...

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Freddie Mercury and Prince because of their knowledge, experimentality and energy they radiate around.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Do not over use different kind of sound processing that will sound unreal or over compressed. Use as much as possible clean and strong recording signal without bottom noise and peak clipping! Do not think final product instead clear and dynamic tracking.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I use to work with lots of different types of music but mostly Reggae, Hip-Hop, Indie, Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal and EDM.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My ears and sound perception as I do not look for possible mistakes but are sensitive to deviations.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: When I'm listening to a new project I get an idea in my head of where it needs to go and I do my best to take it there. I bring more clarity, room, deep, punch and snap to the song but mostly I try to preserve as much dynamic as possible. Need to think to the next step in production chain "Mastering".

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: Firstly, I check the tracks delivered by client regarding to level and recording quality and ask for any special requests. Secondly, re-name by instrument, sequencing in the sub stem groups, roughly leveling and do the test mixdown as a first mix. The mix should not be louder then around -20 LUFS after Level Normalization. There after the main track editing and mixing starts...

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I work in both, analog and digital domain but prefer working in digital Steinberg DAW platforms both for mixing and mastering nowadays, utilizing a couple of outboard pieces in case of re-amp and outboard processing.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: All artists I work with inspires me in special way as well as anyone else who makes great music. I know many people in the music industry what create amazing and they inspire me to work hard almost every day. No one mentioned, no one forgotten:-)

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I'm primarily a mixing and mastering engineer in different music styles from Reggae, Hip-Hop, Indie, Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal to EDM. Most of my clients want mixing, track editing and master in first place, but some of the time I assisting as a Producer on their music.
