Interview with Blake McCoy
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Anyone with an open mind that is willing to stray into unknown musical territory. I believe creativity is more about letting ideas lead you as opposed to chasing them down.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I write in one way or another 5-7 days a week as I feel that inspiration grows out of persistence and availability. I go into sessions with a general idea and let the music/lyric form naturally.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring whatever I sense is needed to a song. If the lyrics are lacking, I'm able to solidify them. If it is melody that needs help, I contribute there. Versatility is one of my best qualities.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Persistence and versatility
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Country and Pop
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Stick with it. Some of the best productions I've been a part of have come after sitting around having no idea what to do for a while.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Tim McGraw because he was one of the first country artists I ever got into. He's a legend
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Graduated from the prestigious Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a degree in music and have been singing my whole life. Songwriting-wise I write about 100-150 songs per year.
