Mphatic is professional with agreements so I know what to expect prior to working on the song. He also understands producing music for Sync (for ads, movies, series) so I didn’t need to explain that he needs to change things up every few measures. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: It would be the"Don't Walk Away" project - it brought so many good people together for a good cause, we are donating the sales to try to prevent suicide - it's a pet project I conceived and started as our suicide rate is the highest in the OECD and I realised I might be able to help...my role was the Executive Producer working with another 3 producers across diverse musical elements - it was a complex project that required massive organisation...with recording taking place all over the country. It involved recording 60 people and ended up being 380 tracks deep!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Working on a Production Music and Video for a client for release on 21st August!

A: Too many to mention! there are so many great people here!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The people and their music - in the end we all do it because we love people and music...there's no other reason...
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Will you Master the track - Yes!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That production is all knob twiddling or programming - its a diverse set of skills where the approach you take to getting the right result is key..
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Mainly I focus on the track I will be working on - it's so important to know where they want the song to go...how they want it to sound!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Let me show you what I can do to your track....bet it drops your jaw!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook Air M2 / Logic Pro X / Apollo X, Neumann U67, Mini Maton Gat. Fender Strat & 5 String Fender J Bass...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started producing back in the day running 64 Midi Channels and linking 8/16 track and Digital Recorders, I continued evolving with studio gear and built my own Computers as nothing could handle the workload I threw at them. What we have today is fantastic by comparison but I still love tape and analog as well...
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: "Can Do" style with a "win/win" approach...fun and creative
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Dua Lipa - she has an amazing voice and the ability to drive a song like no other vocalist - but there are many I would like to produce...Adele, Lorde, BEP...
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, Rock, EDM, RAP, Hip Hop, because we are a small country you gain experience across more genres
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Listening!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I treat every song as if it's my own...
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: 1. Listen to the Demo or STEMs snd Talk to the client - understand their music what they want for their song 2. Get a reference track from the client to ensure that the production will hit expectations 3. Listen listen and listen 4. Have fun with the song 5. Produce a first rough mix for discussion and send an MP3 to the client for critical review - this may include Zoom meetings to discuss options with the track. 6. I usually also discuss ideas and demonstrate what impact they will have on the track - if required where a STEM is not going to deliver - I will request a new one - there is a limit to what can be done - you have to know when a re-recording will fully deliver the promise of a track... 8. Take critical review points back into the production and finalise the song..
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: i9 Mac 16 Cores Hyper-threading, Fully blown Distributed 60 CPUs system with almost every professional Plug In, Focal SM9 Monitors, Focal Pro Headphones, BMW Matrix Monitors, Valve Preamps, LA2A / 1176 Compressors, Top Ribbon, Carbon and Condensor mics, Guitars to enable any sound style, Basses to do the same...various Keyboards, massive sample libraries about 18TB.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: All Production elements / aspects including - Pre Production...encompassing; Creative Contribution depending on client need. There are times when Vocal Coaching, Melodic Development, Harmony, Arrangement, Beat Programming, Vocal Tuning/Comping are required - developing tracks...to serve the song!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both because they have their place depending on what you are trying to do...warmth and extra dimension...Analogue - Digital for control...
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To give them the best result that they will get for their track - to bring their vision to life for them...
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen! you ears are always the most important tools you have...
