Interview with Ty Anderton
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm deeply inspired by artists and producers who aren't afraid to break the mold by fusing genres or creating something entirely new. A few examples that I can especially relate to are Skrillex, Diplo, and more recently, Marshmello. Each has carved out their own niches as artists while simultaneously producing for some of the most successful artists in the pop industry.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: With my clients, I tend to make pop music with an emphasis on groove and catchy songwriting. I like to incorporate sonic elements from electronic music without making it too "EDM". In my downtime, however, I like to produce heavier styles of bass music that are focused around energy, tension, and intricate sound design. For my personal project, I'm working on developing a hybridization of these heavier styles and a more accessible pop format.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't think too much. If it sounds good and feels good, then run with it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work is very comprehensive as a producer. I often take a role in the songwriting process and carry the production all of the way through the master. I like to take the time and effort to ensure things are done correctly at every step, including the recording and mixing stages, but I'm happy to pick up a project at any level of development and bring it to its fullest potential!
