Albert Di Fiore

Producer/Mix Engineer

Albert Di Fiore on SoundBetter

I produce and mix music for artists on independent/major labels, as well as independent artists

I grew up playing instruments and performing music from early childhood and gained an interest in recording during my college years. Soon after graduating, I secured an internship at Lenny Kravitz's Edison Studios in New York City. I worked my way up at Edison Studios over a period of four years; from intern, to runner to assistant engineer, and finally to engineer. I was fortunate to work with many genres of music during my time there. This experience laid the foundation that I needed to start mixing and producing bands on my own.
I opened Rumpus Room Studios in Brooklyn, NY in 2008 where I further honed my craft over the next nine years working with bands in the Brooklyn music scene ranging from Francis and the Lights, Bear Hands, and Sinkane to Skaters and Caveman. After garnering the attention of AAM Management, I joined their roster of world renowned engineers and producers in 2016. I relocated to Nashville in 2018 where I am currently living and working with artists around the country and internationally.

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Listen to the work. If it falls in line with your tastes, it will most likely be a good working relationship.

  4. A: Pro Tools- Monitors- UAD Plugins- Attack Wall- Burl B2

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I work in different generes, so I dont feel like i have a style. Every descision I make is meant to serve the song. I feel like I would be doing the song a disservice if I try to impose a "style" or a sonic signature

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: When recording guitars and Bass guitar, always record a DI as well as the amp. It allows for more flexibility during mixing.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Pop,Rock,Alternative, and R&B

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Communication.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: I bring dynamics and excitement to a mix.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: My typical process is to start with having a conversation with the artist/band about what they want from the mix. Do they want the mix to just sound sound a bit better than the rough mix, or is it a re-imagination of the mix. I'll then listen to the rough mix a few times and figure out my plan of attack. Once I have a working mix I'll

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: My Studio set up allows me to seamlessly go from working "In the Box" to mixing on my SSL console, either from Pro Tools, my 24 Track Tape Machine, or a combination of all the above.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: Most often I can be found in my studio mixing. Genres include Pop, Rock, Alternative, and R&B
