Steve Newton on SoundBetter

Hi!

I'm an experienced sound engineer and modular synth nerd, originally from the U.K and now living and working in Montreal, Canada. I started playing with 4 track cassette recorders when I was 15, I then went to college to study Popular Music and Recording and it grew from there. I've spent most of my adult life recording and mixing and I also work a lot in live sound (FOH/ monitors).

I try to cater to independent budgets as a lot of the music I enjoy lives in that world. I'm currently working with a hybrid setup, a mix of analog and digital equipment. I work in a way that makes recalls and revisions easy.

If you’re looking for a unique sounding mix or have interest in tracking at my studio here in Montreal click the contact button to get in touch!

Working with Steve was an absolute pleasure. His level of expertise is immediately apparent in the attention to detail he gave to the project and the overall high caliber results. As a fairly new artist I was especially appreciative of his patience and professional kind attitude throughout. Most importantly, I felt he absolutely understood my artistic vision. Very happy with the process/results and would 100% recommend and work with Steve again in future!

  2. A: Q) Do you master too? A) I can but it’s not what I specialize in, when it comes to mastering I believe it’s better to have a fresh set of ears, in a different room with different monitors instead of having the same person mix and master. I’m happy to recommend dedicated mastering engineers.
