Raag-inspired sitar overdubs and instrumental parts for your composition or project.
I have played electric and acoustic guitar and electric bass for 40 years and piano for 45. I am currently receiving formal training in the Raags from a senior disciple of the late Ustaad Ali Akbar Khan and individual tutorship in sitar technique from one of his senior students, an experienced sitarist in the Mayhar Gharana tradition (of which Ali Akbar Khan and Ravi Shankar were both exponents).
I am available for recording sitar overdubs and parts for non-Indian Classical music compositions. I would like to emphasize this latter part. While I have been exposed to numerous raags in my training, my playing is *raag-inspired*; in the tradition of Indian Classical performance, it is for those whose experience exceeds my own to perform the raags themselves. I want to be up front about this.
That said, there is a vast musical territory where the scales, melodies, and rhythms of Indian Classical music can intersect with ideas in Western music and the sonic beauty and microtonal agility of sitar can add what no other instrument can.
