I am a producer and songwriter from Canada. I need to constantly create music that makes people move or else everyone will freeze up here. But seriously, listen to my sample tracks and contact me for more examples of what I do. If you are a singer/songwriter, let's work together to make your vision come to life! I guarantee you'll be happy.

I have been a songwriting for over 2 decades and I produce and engineer music for many artists, as well as my own projects. I have experience producing in many genres, but I specialize in Rock/Pop. My bread-and-butter is full productions for singer/songwriters that want to share the music they can hear inside their heads to the people that support them. I play drums, guitars, bass, piano and I am a strong vocalist. So If you have a song that you're ready to share with the world, let's get started!

I offer full instrumental productions, male vocals, live drums and guitars, programming, songwriting, vocal and instrument editing and tuning, mixing, and mastering.

I was a bit nervous recording, especially with a song so personal to me. Adam made me feel very comfortable, handled minor tweaking to my lyrics with care and encouragement. He worked with me on my own pace. Great experience!

Adam knows his programs inside and out and pushes himself to find the best sound. He is really easy to work with and provides information as well as a quality level of production. He is the first person I’ve recorded with and he taught me a lot about mic placement. Adam works very diligently and is dedicated to producing at the best level he can.

One of my first recording experiences was with Adam and it was so positive! Had an amazing experience in the studio learning more about vocals and perfecting the sound we wanted to make. The space was great, the atmosphere was comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our project. The final product was everything I could’ve hoped for and more. I would definitely do more recording with him again.

This would be my second single release and I had big dreams for it. I wanted it to feel and sound exactly as I had dreamt about it and I wasn’t disappointed at all, Adam did an awesome job and I already have great reviews and feedback from friends and family.

Interview with Adam Breitkreuz

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: Definitely laptop with pro tools, (not sure if that counts as 2...) good set of headphones, SM57, keyboard, and a generator full of gas cause I'm not sure how I would be expected to power all this stuff up on a beach.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Lots of artists inspire me at different times. Raine Maida from OLP has always been someone whose songwriting I aspire to. Pete Kipley has been making music for years and I love his ability to blend programming and live together so seamlessly.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I haven't worked with anyone else on here as of yet, but there are many talented people on the platform so I'm sure I'll be collaborating soon!

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Work with someone who makes you feel comfortable. I've been on the other side of the equation as well and have hired people that I didn't have a good feeling about, but they were cheap! I was not happy with the results and ultimately it was a waste of my time and money. Recording is about the experience as well as a quality product, so make sure you get both

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I was in a touring band for many years, writing and playing drums over North America and even a bit in New Zealand. When we hung that up in 2016, I took up audio engineering as an outlet for my songwriting and have been producing music for my own projects and others since.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Melodies. I have an ear for writing catchy melodies and that has been very useful in my writing and productions.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I operate out of my own home studio. Check out my website to see pictures of the space

  15. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  16. A: I'm recording a song right now for a commercial opportunity that is using a ton of vocal parts and gangs. I LOVE recording vocals so it's a real pleasure!

  17. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  18. A: Recently worked with a artist that had some negative studio experiences in the past and was a bit reserved when they arrived. I really try and culture an atmosphere of creativity and encouragement when recording and, long story short, we ended up doing multiple projects together and they seem to have a renewed passion for writing music! It's just awesome to watch people become their best!

  19. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  20. A: Digital. Money and time are the main reasons.

  21. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  22. A: I will not stop until you are 100% happy with the song. You put a piece of your soul into it when you wrote it and I will make sure you are satisfied with the job.

  23. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  24. A: That feeling when you know you just made something unreal and you just have to fist pump the air

  25. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  26. A: That making music is easy. It's not; it's hard work. But it's fun and worth the effort to make something that you can be proud of!

  27. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  28. A: 3 songs you want this track to sound the most like? What are you intending the song to be used for?

  29. Q: How would you describe your style?

  30. A: Anthemic and inspirational. I tend to blend pop, rock and folk elements in music I write for myself and I always aim for payoff in the chorus; I want to feel the chills!

  31. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  32. A: Jon Foreman. His writing is inspirational and purposeful, He has a heart that comes through in his music and I want to be around people like that.

  33. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  34. A: Know where you want to end up. If you want a huge soaring chorus or something more intimate, a good road map will help you build interest throughout the track without running out of space.

  35. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  36. A: I mostly do Indie Rock/Pop and Folk, but love a good challenge! I've recently produced country, funk and EDM! Long as I have some good references of what the client wants, I'll hit the mark.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: I think I bring a keen ear for melodic hooks. I love the way instruments interact with one another and finding simple catchy parts that are interesting and fit the vibe of the song.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: It really is important to plan out your structure and instruments first; like a painter who sets up their canvas, picks out paint and sketches an outline. Every track is different and sometimes clients have ideas for certain part of the song; I try and write those in and build to them. I have a certain order of workflow, but creativity isn't rigid, so I try not to be as well.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Mostly full instrumental productions. I really enjoy taking a song from idea to final master; it's incredibly rewarding!
