Robin Rutenberg on SoundBetter

Berlin based Recording and Mix Engineer, Session Musician, and Composer.

I specialize in folk, ambient, soundtrack, classical, and electronic genres. I have performed as a session musician and toured internationally with Radical Face (vocals, flute, guitar) and also contributed vocals and flute to Ceschi, Monarch MTN, and others. I have over a decade of performance and songwriter experience with half of that time spent producing, recording, and mixing for myself and others.

I am a trans* artist and consider music a powerful social justice platform and way to lift voices traditionally left out of the conversation. I got into studio work because I wanted to create a space that felt affirming for marginalized voices and stories.

I would love to start a conversation about the vision you have for your next project and find out if we might be a good fit for one another!

warmth,
Robin

During the spring 2019 exhibition program at Casco Art Institute, we commissioned Rob to create the sonic identity for a radio show that we launched called "Common Air." Rob developed a strong intro and outro to the show, as well as a large batch of transitional, intermediary sounds that could be used interchangeably for what we desired in each of the three episodes. Rob was also incredible to work with - communicates well, very timely, skillful compositions, and great conceptual thinker. Looking forward to the next season to work with them again!

I've been lucky enough to work with Rob on multiple occasions & it's been an absolute pleasure every time. Their deep understanding and love for the craft is apparent in every composition they touch, and is refreshing in this jaded world of remote musical collaboration. I turn to Rob often when looking for feedback or advice because they're by far one of the most thoughtful & unpretentious musicians I know. Highly recommend!

Throughout the few years I have known Rob, their continued dedication to musical growth and experimentation has really made them stand out as an artist and engineer. Aside from being one of the most kindhearted people I know, Rob brings warmth and a refreshing clarity to everything they do. I have always been incredibly impressed by Rob's work, which is why I asked them to compose the original score for a documentary I am directing. Excited to continue working with this brilliant individual!
