ChicagoBob on SoundBetter

Award winning 5 star creator of orginal music and work with lyric writers and singers to create the music that matches the intent and feeling of their lyrics/songs. I typically provide up to five tracks of instruments which normally include a piano, drum, bass, guitar and a string/pad/lead instrument. I also can create music for soundtracks.

I have always worked on the music side of the songwriting continuum in studios. I am not a live performer or singer and have use this site for some amazing collaboration on my original songs--you can listen a couple on the links below.

The typical feedback I get is that songs are produced really well and are reflective, contemplative and beautiful. I tend to be more of a country/pop ballad writer than anything but also enjoy creating chill and new age music that can also work on soundtracks.

Early during the developmental process i will send a draft version to make sure we are on the same path and/or adjust accordingly.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

I really enjoyed working on Bob's song. Projects are that much easier to do if the material is good, and Bob definitely has good material to work with. I look forward to our next project.

Chicago Bob was great to work with, Provided clear direction and offered to pay additional for adding one track to the mix.(I did not charge him to do so but It was great that he offered). He provided timely response to questions and positive reinforcement for work done. I would absolutely work with him again and recommend him to others.

Bob was wonderful to work with, gave clear helpful directions and expectations, but also left plenty of room for creativity. And his music was a pleasure to write lyrics to and sing on. Looking forward to more!

Interview with ChicagoBob

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Two years ago I created a song for my best friend, who died just after he had a second baby. His wife was over at my house and said I miss him more, not less, since he's been gone. I thought that was a perfect song and began writing words and a melody and then a production and had it completed here with a singer and mixer. Gave it to the family for Christmas--there wasn't a dry eye in the room. This is that song https://soundcloud.com/chicagobobp/love-you-more-ft-mella

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Several original songs that I want to submit to PG Radio; I won the top 40 songwriters in 2019 and got a lot of free music tools. Would like to win again in 2020. I am also working creating music for a client that has lyrics and needs original music that fits the intent of the song.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I have used several and recommend: Mella, Erika Rehn

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital --easier more mobile. Somethings like harmonica, mandolin are analog because I can't replicate it weill digitally

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: 100% guarantee. If they don't like it I will fix it

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Creativity and the results a song has on the customer when they hear their song come alive

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: There are two types-- one the business side about rights to the song. The other about timing to get the project done. The third is do you think you can make this song magical

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That this is easy

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Do they have a vision of what they want the song to be? What style? What is the purpose? Is there a singer? Is there a time limit for the song? When is the project due? What is important to you? How much do you want to be involved in the process?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: listen to the demo songs they provide and see if they have the style you are looking for. read their bio to see if their musical interests meets the needs of your project. Everyone wants to be hired but I wouldn't be a good choice for types of music that I don't like or listen to

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: If there is no lyrics to begin I start with cords, build song structure and tempo and them right melody to the chords. When I have lyrics I start with the melody and then create tempo and chords and structure. When I don't have a project I just play random chords and melody to see what happens. I am always recording to make sure I don't miss that magic when it happens
