Interview with USOH

  1. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  2. A: 1. I want a track, how much does it cost? Depends on what you need (i offer discount bundle services and 10% off for returning customers - get in touch for more info) 2. What kind of music do you make? I tend to not make genre specific music but my roots are grounded in hiphop so always expect an element of that spirit in everything I work on. 3. Can you get my songs ready for streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify? Whilst I am not a distributor, yes I can absolutely master your song so that it is ready for any music streaming service ensuring that it can sit next to some of the best commercial records without standing out.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That i'm doing this purely for the money. Truth is, as much as I might want to, I cannot turn you into a rockstar. If your vocals suck there's nothing I can do to make them sound magical so the best thing you can do is train your ears to sing in tune, keep practicing and perform the best you can. Whilst I can turn dirt into a diamond but I can't polish a turd so I have to be really selective with the clients and projects I work with to ensure I always produce work at the highest quality possible.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: Before you come to me please be clear on what it is you need with a clear idea of examples of existing songs or ideas to work through. Below is a list of services I offer: - Custom beat production (Exclusive licensing) - Beat licensing (low-cost affordable way to get backing music - message me for more info on catalogue) - Audio Engineering (recording, vocal coming, mixing, mastering, etc.) - Music Composition (shows/podcasts) - Podcast/ Audio Production (cleaning, editing and mastering of broadcast ready audio programmes like shows and podcasts)

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Hip Hop, Pop, Chillhop, Indie/Alt, Electronic (chill), EDM, Neo-Soul, Lo-Fi, RnB, Trap and UK Drill/ Grime

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Intuition. I say this because too many producer get stuck in their old ways and they don't adapt themselves and expertise to the unique artists they work with. I truly value real artists and it's important thatI respect all the qualities that make you special. I listen to you carefully and ensure whatever I do is led from you and amplified by me.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I bring my culture, passion and over 10 years of experience into every record I produce. I'm lucky enough to have toured around the world as an artist and DJ as well as trained as audio engineer and music producer in both London and Los Angeles. So the versatility I bring to every project I work on is truly unmeasurable in monetary value.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: To begin every project I need to be as clear as possible on what it is specifically i'm trying to achieve with that session. If 'm working with an artist, label or manager this usually means taking time to discuss with them their project, clearly defining their goals and developing a clear understanding of their wants and needs. Once thats complete I hit the studio and begin working on their production or engineering. Each follow different processes but throughout either I keep close contact with my client, keeping them fully involved in the process until they are satisfied with the final result. Once confirmed, a final payment is made and final project files are sent over to artist and/or their team.

  21. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  22. A: I pitched a campaign to the Royal Opera House and won a production and funding deal to produce an Immersive Trap-Opera Virtual Reality Experience with them. Over the last year along with a team of scriptwriters, play directs, opera composers, singers and VR developers I have been working as art director and executive music producer for the entire project and franchise.

  36. A: Please reach out to me if you have a clear objective and are serious about getting your sound to the next level

  37. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  38. A: I graduated a degree in Architecture in 2015 then went on to study a course in audio engineering at the London School of Sound. A year later I won a $20,000 scholarship to grow and train as an audio engineer and music production at the Icon Collective in Los Angeles and have been working as a professional producer and engineer ever since then.

  39. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  40. A: Music is all about emotion so if whatever you're doing; be it singing, producing, mixing, rapping etc., doesn't make people feel something then you're not doing it right. Always connect with the deeper emotion you're trying to convey when you create art.
