Hey, my name is Amir Jamal, and I am artist, producer, and engineer from Dallas, TX. I have worked with various artists as a ghost producer and writer. I have produced music for artist from all genres. My first placement was with Luna LaRae this past summer 2018! I am here to collaborate with other artists and also offer my services.
I specialize in HipHop/Trap/Electronic/Pop/Rock
I have interned under sound engineer and producer RUN DMT for the past three years here in Dallas.
Currently, working with Ivan Jimenez - engineer for Tory Lanez, Nicki Minaj, Jhene Aiko, The Weeknd based in Hollywood, CA.
Production: I am a classically trained percussionist, pianist, and arranger. Whether it be adding or changing additional drums or synth sounds, filling in and creating parts, I can do what's necessary to make the record the best it can sound.
Vocal production: I have been a recording engineer and vocal mixer on all of my projects! If there are parts that need to be re-recorded for reasons such as a lacking performance or inadequate studio equipment, we can do that. Vocals need backgrounds and harmonies? Yes, we can! Do vocals need tuning? I can do it!
Mixing: Good mixes make a huge difference in how the sound is perceived. I can make vocals shine, backgrounds and instruments balanced.
I also hold a Bachelors of Science in Engineering so I am a natural born problem solver. Whatever your track is needing I can do! I provide clear rates and precise completion dates. Time is of the essence so let's get to work today!
I do travel if needed!

Interview with Amir Jamal
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am REALLY proud of my first big EP with Luna LaRae. I produced it myself, and I am proud of the work because this project took me out of my hip hop and rock background. I lived in France for six months. This is where I heard house music for the first time, and I really like the way it moved people. So I figured out how to make house music, but I added my own flair to this EP. It's a good mix, and it is something everyone can enjoy.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on EP's for two rappers here in Texas.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. They both have a distinct sound. You just have to know when to use them.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to give you 100% of me. We will get it right. Whether it's making a beat, mixing/mastering, songwriting, or ghost work. You will get all of me.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I truly have an ear for music. I quit engineering for this because I finally realized that this was a gift that could not go to waste. Listen to my music, and you will hear it yourself. I don't do this for the money, but because it makes me happy. I am doing this from my heart, and it feels amazing.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: If I was on a desert obviously I wouldn't have electricity. I would take my dad's tablas, my drumset, a Steinway piano, and my two guitars.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I actually went to school for chemical engineering because my parents made me, but I was making beats for my brother the whole time. As soon as I graduated, I went straight to music. I think I worked like 6months in the field and then said, "Fuck this I'm doing music."
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I was raised in the south so I would say alot of southern hip hop and rock has heavily influenced my sound.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Pharrell Williams, I think he is just a genius.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Yes, remember that at the end of the day you are mixing, producing, and engineering a song that people will need to feel. If I stop feeling the track then I know I did something wrong, and it is time to go back and fix the problem.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I grew up in a family that played music. I have been a drummer since I was seven years old along with drumline and orchestrial experience. I know the feeling of goosebumps when you know the track is just right. I know when to put it and when to take out. I bring passion to the table. I will keep working on a track until the desired target is reached.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends if I am mixing, writing, or producing. Mixing - I like to have multiple reference points for the record. For example, I will play it on my Rockits, my laptop speakers, car speakers, take it down to the studio, maybe call some friends over and have them check it out. I like my mixes to sound good on everything. I like to use WAVE plugins alot. They have an awesome bundle of plug ins that really get the sound the client is desiring.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio along with access to two professional recording studios here in Dallas. I have done most of my previous work at my home studio. I use Logic Pro X for everything from making beats to mixing/mastering. Home gear - KRK Rockit 8's, AKAI MPK 49, MASCHINE Mini, Scarlet 2i interface, and RODE NT1 Mic Plugins- Logic Stock, WAVE, Dada Life, Antares, and Native Instruments Plug Ins Studio gear- Neumann U87 microphone, 11 rack – guitar pre amp, Waves Plugins, Slate Digital Plugins, Universal Audio Plugins, MC77 Compressor, Avalon – vacuum tube mic pre amp, AKG414 condenser microphone, Sure737 dynamic microphone, Isolated treatment in vocal booth, AKAI49 midi keyboard, Presonus RC 500 / mic pre amp compressor & EQ, Presonus septre 8″ studio monitors + sub, and Universal audio apollo duo – audio interface.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I take inspiration from anything. I grew up playing drums so for me inspiration comes easy. As long as I can feel the beat, I'm sold!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Typically, I have been doing hip hop work for all clients, but my first placement was with Luna LuRae which has a fused sound of pop and hip hop. I am open to any sound have a wide variety of influences.
