Interview with Felipe González [RÁU]
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: José Des's "Seim" song. Powerful Pop/R&B production, amazing vocals and songwriting, very proud! Ítalo's "Guarda" song. Yet to be uploaded, but very unique combination of sounds and storytelling!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: New album for "José Des", new EP for "Ítalo", and new songs for "Arkadia". Im producing and writing my own EP, too!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Oh yeah! Candela Cibrian [Della], i know her from High-School. Extremely talented and generous person :). I heard of SoundBetter because of her!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Why not?
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Do my best to make their vision a fact!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being part of someone else's dreams!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What do i think of their songs, if it could get somewhere and whats the production fee. Im always giving strait forward, honest answers. I only work on a song that sparks my curiosity, if not it's just a waste of time for everybody.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Thinking that a producer is someone who does good record-engineering ahaha I think that t producer is someone who can be sensitive to your art, but with perspective, meaning: turn into flames your strengths and take advantage of your limitations, because that is what makes you who you are!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: First, i ask them about themselves and what was their journey until our encounter. Some amazing things pop out in that process. Second, what emotion do they want to activate with their song. And third, how they think it would sound. With all that, we can really get to work!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to the work of who you are going to hire! It has to resonate with you, and nothing speaks better for ourselves that the work we do. Make sure you hire someone who is curious about what you do, that's the best scenario. There's always somebody perfect for the job, you just gotta find it!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A computer, headphones, mic, remote internet drive and my kindle!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Since 7 i'd attempted doing songs! Singing melodies over chords, in my on way, but it wasn't until ai was 13 that i grabbed a guitar and started playing and writing! So, its been 16 years at least!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm an alternative/indie Pop Argentinian Singer/Songwriter. And that means, a mix between of these genres combined with the natural cultural-print that latin-america vibe has!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Jai Paul. I love how he produces his music. I think i would learn a lot!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Yes! Bring to the song, everything that makes you special (Who you are). No matter what.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually do Pop/Indie/Alternative, sometimes R&B, with some electronic sounds.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Be the artist's wing man's vision.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A fresh set of ears, songwriter skills and production resources.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Listen to the song! And try to understand the artist vision as much as i can and trying to balance empathy with perspective, all the time.

A: Wow! Well, Max Martin, Pharrell Williams, James Blake, Frank Ocean, Timbaland, and so many others!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I'll go as deep as needed, really. Sometimes is co-composing and others is just guidance and good production to take the song to the next level.
