Interview with Tony Sarić

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The freedom of being able to decide what sounds good. Everything is subjective. Nothing is 100% until you hear it with your own ears.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That creating a unique sound doesn't take as many hours as it really does. Happy accidents don't just happen without a lot of time and energy put into the process.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just like with a tattoo artist, look for someone who is not only interested in your piece of art, but also has a strong vision of what it could be. Someone who gets excited to work with you.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Anyone out of the record label Tri-Angle Records because they all have unique sounds and approaches to the current music scene. I really believe they are breaking molds and paradigms with their visions.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be creative with your audio signal routing techniques. You never know what you can string together between analog and digital equipment to find a very unique sound.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Creative and experimental ideas to add production depth and level to the tracks. I am willing to continue experimenting until I find that perfect sound. Not held down by traditional techniques.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Experimental or ambient music is my favorite because the possibilities are endless. I also love bringing together hip hop or indie type music especially if it has an edge that no other artist has currently. I listen to a lot of trip hop, dub, punk, and jazz.
